Unique Lady Hair Design in Charlotte, NC

Today is my daughter's birthday & my mother is visiting from out of town. As part of my daughter's birthday pampering, I wanted to get her hair silk pressed. My mother has been here for 2 weeks & wanted to get her hair washed, colored, & curled.

I made a last-minute appointment yesterday, after reading the good reviews on yelp. When we got to the salon, Cheresa took my mother right away and had her hair washed. Shortly after, my daughter began having her hair washed. My mother got a wash, condition, color, trim, blow dry, and curl. My daughter's hair was washed, conditioned, blow dried, and flat ironed.

The care and good energy that Cheresa showed my family was as if she were doing her own mother and daughter's hair. On top of that, when the other stylists & patrons heard it was my daughter's birthday, they helped me sing happy birthday, in the Stevie Wonder version.

Lastly, I told them that my daughter is a singer, and they allowed her to perform her version of "Rise Up," by Andra Day. This salon is really living up to its name. My daughter enjoyed her birthday,  getting a beauty treatment like a Unique Lady! When we were leaving, another stylist said to me, "You all are family now."

I came here to have my natural hair trimmed, blown out and flat ironed by Shantel. She has been my sister's stylist for years and also does my Mom's hair.  This is a salon that specializes in African American hair care needs including natural care, braids, weaves and updos.

Shantel started where all good hair stylists begin...at the shampoo bowl. She gave my hair a good cleanse using quality salon products by scrubbing my scalp thoroughly yet gingerly. This is normally the point where most stylists loose their patience with my super curly, super thick hair and begin to tug and pull or slack off on the washing process. Not Shantel, despite my apologies, she trudged on without commenting on my crazy hair with some interesting and entertaining beauty shop conversation to boot.

She then patiently and gently detangled my hair. She applied a protectant, sectioned it and blew it dry with minimal heat. Once dry, she went on to straighten my hair section by section applying just enough product to give a nice sheen while avoiding a greasy weight. After straightening, she TRIMMED my hair perfectly (and I do mean TRIM). She took off only what was necessary to give me a healthy head of hair and beautiful shape while retaining length. She then went back through and gave my hair a nice bend and styled it. After taking some pictures for me, she even wrapped it.

The price was reasonable given the density and length of my natural hair, the quality of the products and the high caliber of the result. I don't straighten my hair often, but I will definitely be using Shantel for all future blowouts. The results are unparalleled.
