Ulta Beauty in Eldersburg, MD

I love shopping at ulta, but this location was more than disappointing. I went in with my boyfriend to buy a curling iron. We were basically the only customers in there and still not a single employee even greeted us. There were 4 employees just in a circle talking with each other and still did not even say hello or ask if we needed help. I found a curling iron and went up to pay. There were two girls at the cash registers and one with dark hair looked at the other girl, sighed, and said "are you gonna take them?". The other girl then says "yeah I guess" like we were such an inconvenience for them to even do their job. Really really horrible customer service at this location.

Me and my friend had just entered ulta looking for new lip glosses and any makeup we thought we needed. We had went through one isle and got to the dior lip oils when this worker walked up to us and stood right there basically breathing down our necks. I then put my lip oil back and my friend took hers and continued moving through the store and she stops us and says "Wheres your lip oil, you need to put it back" and made my friend show her and put it back and then snapped at me saying i need to put mine back and that she saw me walk away with it. She then proceeds to tell another coworker "Is the parking lot cop still there, tell him he needs to come check the store" after we had done absolutely nothing but walk in and browse. Then we put our things down and we get ready to leave because we were extremely uncomfortable with the situation. As we are walking out the door she says "check the cameras" yes I am aware there have been stealings in the store previously but she did not have to do all of that after we had been in the store for not even a minute. I will not be going back for a long while.

I had a makeup appointment scheduled for my daughter's Homecoming. We drove to this location because of scheduling. We have used another Ulta for event makeup in the past and have been pleased. Not so much this time. My daughter asked for smoky eyes and to cover up her acne scars. She showed the tech a photo. My daughter left Ulta in tears because the makeup looked so poorly. She looked like a drag queen. My daughter also told me that the tech used dirty brushes on her face. After paying, tipping and being charged extra for product my daughter came home and re-did her own makeup. We were both very disappointed in the experience. I do not recommend this location for makeup. The tech was very nice but sadly not very good.

My daughter made appointments at Ulta for hair styling for herself, her daughter, and me and for makeup for herself, on her wedding day. She made the appointments well in advance and confirmed the appointment, the number of customers and the services needed, before the day of the appointment. She was very clear when making and confirming the appointment that this was for her wedding and therefore very important. She was to arrive at the salon at 10 a.m and my granddaughter and I were to arrive at 10:45. The day was planned to go like clockwork, with plenty of extra time built in. As I walked in for my appointment, I received a text from my daughter that the stylist could not start my hair or my granddaughter's hair until at least 11:15. I went in anyway, to discover that there was only one stylist for all of the services we had scheduled and that she had barely begun my daughter's hair. The stylist suggested I go to Hair Cuttery and see if they could accommodate me. They did, but the half hour wait they predicted stretched into an hour and 20 minutes. There was now no possibility of salvaging our schedule and I was not going to be able to pick up my daughter and drive her to the wedding as planned. I gave her money to call an uber and rushed home. I had a grand total of 20 minutes to do my makeup and get dressed for the wedding. In the meantime, over at Ulta, things were progressing so slowly that by the time my daughter was finished and got home (luckily right across the street) she had five minutes to get into her gown and shoes. The uber was running so late that she had to drive herself to the wedding in a pick-up truck, but that is another story. During the course of her appointment, she had learned that someone had called in sick and there was only one fill-in stylist to do all of the services scheduled. Had they called us at 10 a.m. and told us the situation, my granddaughter and I could have made arrangements to have our hair done elsewhere and closer to my house. One short phone call and all of this mess could have been completely avoided. Clearly, Ulta has no regard for the time and comfort of its customers. I don't want to give Ulta even one star because I did not receive the services for which I had a confirmed appointment. Unfortunately, in order to rate the business, at least one star is required.

I got a haircut on January 6. I wasn't going to leave a review at all, but someone on my social media just ranted about their own color/cut at Ulta, so I'm leaving a review and photos. I asked for simple bob. A little longer in the front, shorter in the back. Simple enough for most with any training. I left with an uneven cut. The back was off, not by much but enough that my friend took pictures of it so I could see what she was seeing. The front/sides were awful. Like awful awful. She cut the back and didn't graduate it to the sides. It looked like the back was cut, she stopped at a certain point, and cut the sides straight across. It's hard to tell in the pictures but if you look closely you can see what I'm talking about. I called the next day and made an appointment with another stylist to have it fixed. My husband asked me if I really wanted to go back there, turns out I did not. I was nervous at this point because I didn't have a lot of hair left. I ended up going to Samsara on Main Street on January 10. She never asked me where I had gone to get the bad cut, she did tell me it's one of the worst she's seen in a while. She had to take almost a full inch off of the sides to make it flow with the back, and she fixed it up. So I spent $45 at Ulta, and $36 at Samsara. Live and learn. Let me say that the manager left a message on my phone and offered to fix the cut after hearing I was unhappy, but after you get THAT much cut off you tend to be a little nervous about going back, no matter who's cutting it.
