Ulta Beauty in Beaverton, OR

This is the only Ulta I will continue to go to. All the others I have tried in the Portland and surrounding areas seem to be full of a bunch of attitude filled, gossipy, cold, and uninformed children that parade around with tacky make-up on thinking they looked snatched. Every single employee I have encountered here is sweet and so helpful.

One star because Yelp doesn't allow zero stars.

The hours on the windows of the cedar hills store clearly show that they close at 9pm but the doors were locked at 8pm tonight. If they actually close at 8, that time should be listed on their window instead.

I drove 35 minutes to make a return to (because their products are never as quality as Sephoras - yet I keep trying).

When I arrived this evening and the doors were locked, I was confused and knocked on the window. One of the employees clearly looked at me and just walked away. The other one gave me an irritated look and said "we're closed." I asked why and pointed out the hours - she laughed and said "because we're closed." So rude and unprofessional. She could have said "sorry for the confusion we changed our hours."

I just moved back to Portland from Montana where Ulta was open everyday until 9pm. And so are Ultas in other cities and states. I don't need to check the internet for hours every time I go to new seasons or the bank, etc - their hours are their hours. I've lived in Portland for 20 years (minus the one year in Montana) and it often astounds me at how rude, snotty and unhelpful people are here despite claiming to be so kind and inclusive.

Lastly, go here if you want to be bullied into signing up for their rewards program (the rewards never come) when you say no thank you. You'll get eye rolls and sigs and irritation.

They're always out of stock, don't waste your time here. I came in today for literally one thing, they didn't even offer to help find something comparable.

This is the most unprofessional and rude beauty service/make up store we have ever run into. Mistakes happen, over bookings, stylist cancellations and even straight up not being able to accommodate a guest for what you booked for them happens. It's life. BUT then to be rude to said customer, have no empathy and just say "well I know we booked you your time sensitive beauty appointment well in advance but we can't accommodate you now" with a disrespectful and dismissive tone is hurtful & unprofessional. I made sure to have confirmed texts of my two appointments. My mom & sisters showed up at 10:50am. They told them to wait and that was fine. They waited inside the store for an hour. And then lo and behold, they canceled the 1pm appointment... while they were in the store. This is after they saw them, gave verbal confirmation of our 11:45am & 1pm and asked us to wait. Side note, the services we booked were for hair. Our girls have beautiful curly hair. I'll let you speculate as to why this happened.

After waiting for an hour, they say our appointments just can't be accommodated and they'll instead give us one appointment at 4pm if we want to come back. Mind you, my mom was waiting in the store with the kids for an hour and within that hour they canceled both of appointments and gave her disrespectful service. She said maybe you guys don't understand my english but this is why my daughter books everything and she has receipts. I did, & I spoke to them and even told them to re-listen to the call I made to the story where they definitely booked me for the right service i asked for. They just told me we can come back at 4pm for one appointment. We decided to leave. The entire process was honestly one of the most disrespectful experiences with a beauty service/makeup store we've ever had. And mind you, we spoke to the manager today... who was no kinder or respectful. They never apologized, they never took fault. just said go away and come back another time. Never, ever stepping foot in an Ulta again. What everyone has been saying about their garbage service is true. Save your energy & money.

update: the manager apologized to my mother, gave the girls goodie bags when she saw the screenshots of them confirming my appointments. she also took down my number and said she'll call. While I appreciate the sentiment, this experience crossed the professional and decency standards I have for beauty service providers when sending my mother & sisters to them. It takes extra love & affirmation to uplift a child or woman with curly hair bc of the way the world treats it, and boy, the experience here led to tears and conversations about how special the girls and their hair are. They deserve better. Being a beauty service/brand is a responsibility in this day and age. Ulta continuously fails.
