UK Hair Full Service Salon in Burlingame, CA

I feel like the luckiest person in the world to have found Olivia who did both my hair and make-up for a wedding in Woodside. I am not a regular client since I live on the East Coast but she made me walk out of the salon feeling like Cinderella. She did a fabulous but very natural-looking updo along with make-up that gave me so much self-confidence. I wouldn't hesitate to recommend her services. I never write reviews, but when you have a sick feeling in your stomach after an experience that doesn't go away whenever you think about it, I think that it makes sense to comment on it. This is a review specifically for Laura Wells. She is truly one of the rudest and least sincere people that I have encountered. After booking an appointment through the UK salon receptionist, Laura called us 5 minutes before our appointment to essentially complain that she had too much work to do and didn't think she would be able to do our hair. When we showed up, she "welcomed us" with more complaining, and kept saying "oh your hair is too thick, this will take me too long, how thick is your sister's hair, oh this is too thick too." I would go so far as to say that she made us feel discriminated against based on race (we are southeast Asian). Apparently she had been booked to do both of our hair, which is definitely not the customer's fault, and she is clearly easily overwhelmed and too unprofessional to handle the situation. I tried to explain to her that it was my birthday, and not react to what she was saying (she was continuously griping while she washed my hair) and she actually asked me "do you hear me? are you listening to what I am saying?" She tried to become friendly about halfway through the appointment in order to try and get a tip (I think she remembered that I was a paying customer). She then charged me $100 for a blowout, saying "Burlingame is expensive, it's so expensive to rent a chair in this salon." I always tip people in the service industry, and despite the horrible experience left her a 15% tip intending to communicate my experience. Truly disappointing that this experience was negative from the beginning to the end. I hope that UK salon takes measures to communicate with their stylists about creating a better customer experience.

It is not easy to find a good hair master. Myself and my husband started coming here for cuts when the #pandemic started opening up, and we love the professional, thoughtful, and charismatic treatment by owner Jeff that it's worth the ~100 mile drive. I had a mismatched partial highlight to transition from greying and he fixed it with a full color in my original tone, as well as layered the cut. Husband has a full head of hair that he blends expertly from top to bottom. Highly recommend.

Had an appointment with Karolina. She has a beautiful and cosy private room. I went in to cover my grays on a very stubborn long hair.. she did an amazing job, trimmed my dead ends & brought my dull hair back to life. A lovely & vibrant lady herself, I had a nice time with her.. along with products recommendations.. thank you for your magic fingers..

I wouldn't even give this place a star at all. The hair styles here are old and wack. Who would pay more for a haircut. The employees here are nice, but the services are garbage. My wife had her nails done here, and they came out horrible. The haircuts are so expensive, and they come out looking bad. I was given a bald spot from the barber and apparently owner. Especially the man in charge named "Jeff" is extremely rude. On top of that, I was talking to some of the employees here, and they aren't even getting paid minimum wage. It's so awful.
