The Vanity Box Salon in Corpus Christi, TX

Saw Delisa for my hair color and cut. She did a great job on the cut and color. I'm a hair snob, and have a very particular blonde highlight and cut I wear. I move a lot, and so have been trying other places in Corpus which were all extremely disappointing. Delisa did not disappoint! She gave exactly what I asked for (after showing a few pictures, which she requests!). The salon is cute, shabby chic, and comfortable. Very satisfied, and happy I don't have to go into San Antonio any more to get a root touch up. Will be back Delisa, thank you!

Thank You! Thank You! Thank You! I was visiting Corpus for a friend's wedding and was desperately looking for a salon that did natural or relaxed (PC speak for African American) hair. Several of the places we found were in areas my friend refused to take me to -"....uhhhh that's the HOOD... we are NOT going to the hood"- while others claimed they could do my hair but seemed grossly igno....uninformed when I asked basic questions. Enter the Vanity Box and a very sweet man - whose card I lost and name I can't remember (George? maybe. sorry, I suck at remembering names [his chair was right next to the front window]). (He) was not only knowledgeable about textures and techniques, he was so skilled he got my humidity-sensitive hair under control and moving and bouncing in ways that even the most skilled stylists I've gone to here in Atlanta couldn't achieve. And my beautiful tresses STAYED beautiful through the wedding and several days that followed. Thanks again to (insert correct name here - did I mention I suck at remembering names?). I may have forgotten your name, but I haven't forgotten the wonderful job you did!

I went here because of a groupon for a Brazilian Blowout. The place was packed and I had to stand for a long time even though I had an appointment. When I was finally seen, they had no smock for me to wear to protect my clothes, so my shirt ended up soaking wet from the shampoo (eventually I was given a smock, but after I was already wet and uncomfortable). Since they were so busy, I feel they didn't really give me the full attention needed as a client who made an appointment--they kept shuffling me from chair to chair so the could see other clients. After my appointment was over, they told me I needed to buy special products for the blowout, but they were out, and told me I had to come back in a few days to pick those up. Not only were they not prepared, but the products were also expensive and very poor quality (over the counter hair products worked better than what they told me I had to buy). I don't think I will be returning--not a fun, relaxing, nor enjoyable experience.

DO NOT GO HERE IF YOU ARE LOOKING FOR A MANICURE/PEDICURE. Each stylist rents his/her own space and performs whatever services they choose, so the layout is very unorganized and each stylist/cosmetologist's equipment and station is different. I was crammed into a small room for both my mani and pedi. The pedi was honestly the WORST pedi I have ever had. First the foot bath was in one of those plastic vibrating bath's you buy a Walmart. Then the lady didn't even cut my toenails...WTF. She also painted my toenails with my sandals on and subsequently got nail polish on my skin and didn't bother to clean it up. The services are way over priced. I will definitely NOT be getting another service at this salon.

I've been here about 3 times and have only left satisfied once. I used to receive highlights from one stylist who did a pretty decent job the first time, so I returned . The second time she didn't even dye my roots AT ALL and my haircut was not well blended. DEFINITELY not worth the $100+ i spent that day. The last time I visited I tried a different stylist. She was friendly and fun to chat with but it was quite obvious that she was biting off more than she could chew trimming and treating my hair while finishing up some foils on another client. So she had her teenage daughter who was hanging out at the salon do my Awapuhi treatment for her!!! Needless to say I did not feel pampered or satisfied, I felt very offended and was even more upset when I ended up spending over a bill AGAIN and wasn't even satisfied with my haircut which was choppy and ugly, NEVER AGAIN.
