I have been to the beauty box several times, but this past time I had a horrible experience. I wanted a trim, and when I sat down with dry hair to tell my hairdresser what I wanted, I got the vibe she wasn't listening. After my wash, she did not ask a single question before starting to cut my hair. Once your hair is cut it's cut-- you cant just ask them to undo it. I was just shocked at the lack of confirmation in regards to what I wanted. I then asked her to do long layers and 5 minutes later she asked "wait what am I supposed to be doing again?". I wanted about 3 inches off and she cut at least 5-6. I am just very upset with the outcome and lack of professionalism.
Owner disrespected my 11 yr old and myself for not letting hairdresser know about wanting hot curls when appointment said so I have been to this Salon over the years and I have been taking both my kids. The 2 hairdressers (Lori and Yahaira) were AMAZING. "You should be MORE INVOVLED in your child's appointment and consultation..." -Rude Owner ( Gaynor) I set an appointment for my daughter 2 weeks ago for wash and hot curls. Today was her appointment and we were running late so I called in and said " ... we are running late would be daughter still be able to keep her appointment, wash and curls"? The owner quickly responded YES. I apologized once again for being delayed and thanked her for them to keep the appointment with my daughter. Once I got there, the hair washer told my daughter who had walked in before me that she needed to hurry up and get her sweatshirt off. Which was totally understandable since we were late. That didn't bother me at all! The hairdresser worked on my daughter and thought she was done and only straightened her hair. I responded, " she's suppose to get curls" the owner then chimes in and said " did she ( meaning my 11 yr old) tell the hairdresser that she wanted curls. I responded " I'm not sure, but I made the appointment for a wash and curls it's on your system". The owner says nothing. Before I walked into the salon I told my daughter that she may not be able to get curls since we're running late and it's okay since they run on a schedule so if the hairdresser says she can't do it would not be a surprise. When all was done and the hairdresser walked over spoke to me about having the hair set, I thanked her. I could tell she was in a rush and I didn't fault her for that. I was late! After the OWNER ran my card into the machine she then says to me " you need to be more involved in your child's appointment and consultation" SHE HAD CROSSED THE LINE!! I told her I am very involved and I made the appointment to what we wanted. And how dare her talk to me that way and blame my child for not saying she wanted curls. I made the appointment and it's said " wash and hot curls". I'm am furious and I don't believe I can ever return to this place. She disrespected me in front of her employees and other clients. She continued to repeat herself telling me " I need to be more involved..."Maybe she should have checked in with the hairdresser about my appointment letting her know I was delayed and was suppose to get washed and hot curls. Before immediately saying YES to keeping the appointment. I don't understand why she had to be rude with my daughter who's only 11 and myself. What's the point of having an electronic system for scheduling if no one pays attention to it? So the red head owner decides to cross the line with me when she should of been mad at herself. A simple " hey, I'm glad Yahaira was able to do your hair but next time we may not be able to complete the service..." or " hey, since your daughter is young it's always good to check in with hairdresser to review exactly how you want her her styles and what like of curls or waves etc..." that's all! I didn't go for a free hair style. I always pay and I always pay 20-25% tip. * the hairdresser didn't even " consult" with my daughter. The owner's response to Yahaira should of been the clients booked wash and curls sorry I didn't mention that you once you took her. Her response instead was, " Yahaira assumed she was here for her usual wash and dry" I responded " assume?! What's the point in making an appointment in the system if it's not followed"!
my hair says it all. they paid NO ATTENTION to what I asked. the job was so bad my normal person for hair asked why did you try to do this by yourself my hair is bright orange frizz. I am not goddamn Annie and the sun is not coming out tomorrow. Run. Run. Run from this place
Review from the year 2020 and am posting it super late. Sorry. I was in desperate need of a makeover so i took a chance and bought a Groupon for full highlights + glaze. I had the wonderful opportunity of having Lori as my stylist and she was phenomenal. Shis sweet, easy to talk to and great with her hair artwork!!! I am amazed at how she restored my hair into something worth having. First of all, my hair had not been done in over a year. When it WAS DONE over a year ago, I had color done on top of highlights. Plus I ended up doing a curly perm. Bad idea because it truly damaged my hair. I ended up pregnant last year so I decided to hold off on doing anything else. Trust me, my hair was a DISASTER. I am so happy that Lori helped me with my nerves and fear of doing something more to my hair and potentially making the damage worse. She, in turn, created a positive change! As you can see in the photos, my hair looks great! I ended up doing a haircut and blow dry for an additional $95. It was so worth it although they are fairly expensive. Still, so worth it! I want to be able to afford to maintain it and hope to do so in 8-12 weeks. ::crossed fingers:: I have to give 5 stars. The only negative aspect is the prices. I mean, it's Rye! To add, they offer water, coffee and/or tea. They have a clean establishment and a beautiful big bathroom. The staff there are all friendly and do amazing jobs. I was there for over 3 hours and many women left with beautiful hair done! I can't complain at all. I was treated amazingly and would definitely love to return. Update: 3/28/19 - 5 days later Okay, so I washed my hair yesterday with sulfate free shampoo and conditioner. I am disappointed to see that my hair looks horrible straightened. As you can see in the pic, it doesn't look evenly cut and I asked for layers. I didn't get a layered cut although I thought I did since it's what I asked for. I didn't pay $95 to get THIS. I am sad now. I don't think that at this point I will return. Im in Yonkers so it really is out of my way to drive there, especially having a baby. It's a 25 minute drive just to do my hair. I am not complaining about the highlights or the color...I knew it wouldn't be even. Also, I know that the damage I had wouldn't be gone. That's just my hair needing to be cut every few weeks to remove the dead hair. My problem is the haircut!!! The blow dry and beach waves were beautiful but I had no idea that she cut my hair like this! I always get a layered cut because that's what I like on me Update 6/1/19
Nicolette did my hair coloring and I highly recommend her! I got a full balayage done and I absolutely love my hair. She's so knowledgeable and knows what she's doing!! Staff is sweet and friendly. Can't wait to come back!
