Star Nails in West Lafayette, IN

It was great service!! James was amazing and so sweet. They do hot towels on ur hands after u get ur nails done. Very nice. I do recommend this place to anybody looking to get their nails done in a fast manner as well!

Tried it for the first time a few days ago. The most memorable moment? As soon as I walked in, I was told in a very detached- almost unfriendly- manner that they don't accept walk-ins but this time they'll serve me (the entire salon was empty except for one client). The nail technician was definitely very good and knew what she was doing, but there was no chit chat. It was like being at the dentist's, although slightly less painful, lol. Then I was given my used nail filer, buffer and gloves and advised to bring them with me at every visit. Hmmm. Not very hygienic, I thought. On top of that , I was told I'll be charged some amount if I lose this bag of filth and they have to provide me with a new one!
At the end, as I thought of giving them another chance and went to the counter to make an appointment, I was told I have to pay $15 deposit and I'll get only one free reschedule after which I may be charged.
I was too amused to listen to anymore if and thens after that. I think my dentist's office has better interpersonal skills then this establishment.
As you can imagine, I don't see the need to go back.

Had a specific nail art in mind so I showed a reference to my nail tech, Jennifer, and she did a great job! Cute and dainty. She also educated me on difference between gel-x and acrylic nail systems, and how to properly care for my nails which I appreciated! Will come back soon.

I wanted special nails for my birthday. I am so excited with what I got!  I have never had gelX nails. But they are beautiful. Jennifer was excellent at describing differences between gelX, acrylics and powder dip. I really love the results!

Because my brief review of "Please be more professional" was met with a rude and false response from the business on Google, I have posted my reply here:

I have visited Star Nails salon once ever two or three weeks (depending on my nail needs) this entire semester. Each time, my appointment has been in the late afternoon. For the last 3 months, my appointments have always been between 2 and 3pm, whether that be 2:00, 2:30, or 3:00. I would have never booked an appointment for 10:30am on Saturday. (I have also given my phone number at check-in countless times. If they thought I was a no-show, why didn't I receive a call?)

But, with that being said, I understand mistakes happen. When I called at 11:45am to see if there was a chance they could take me earlier than 2:30pm, I was met with rudeness over the phone. "You missed your 10:30 appointment we have no time for you. You were a no show." I was taken aback at her tone of voice, but I understood that mistakes happen. Their male employee who works at the front desk who took my phone call on Monday at 5:55pm to schedule my appointment clearly misheard me.

I expected her to be apologetic about their employee writing down an incorrect time in their calendar book or just mishearing me, but instead they were rude. But I needed my nails done and suspected their was no malice involved, just a miscommunication. So I slipped in at 3:45 because she said their salon was supposedly closing at 4pm today for a meeting, although that is not their normal hours. (I later heard a girl come in and say she had a 4pm appointment, so that was clearly untrue.)

When I arrived, I sat down with a nail tech and handed her the color I had chosen (the same color I have gotten the last two times I have attended. She said "You know this color goes on sheer right?" And I said "Even after a few coats? Normally goes on fine" because I was simply clarifying... She immediately  responds "I work here I am a nail tech professional I know my job so you when I tell you how nail polish goes on, that's how it goes on"

At this point, after the rudeness and disrespect I had received between the phone call and the rude woman at the salon, I chose to leave without making a scene or alerting other clients in the salon of my mistreatment. I will not be coming back and I will be sharing my experience with all of my friends who have visited this salon in the past.

I never once was rude or unkind to these people who had, up until this point, only been kind to me. I have always tipped generously and been gracious for the great work they have done on my nails.

As you mentioned in your rely, you have video documentation. Excellent, please watch the video of my interaction with your nail tech who was rude and agitated towards me for no apparent reason. The disbelief on my face will be evident, even in a mask.

Jennifer, as the manager, I would encourage you to rethink how you treat customers and how you allow your employees to treat customers.
