Spa at Black Forest in Big Bear Lake, CA

Only 2 stars. I went in with my friend to get our nails done, i went first and oh boy it hurt so bad. He kept filing and filing until i barely had any nail bed left, to where it literally created a part that had no nail. It hurt reallly bad and then he kept freaking doing it. Im now terrified of getting my nails done there. Also my middle finger nail is really crooked and there are bubbles galore. I asked for black tip acrylics with jell, its very uneven and parts with paint missing. My friends nails came out almost just as bad. After dishing out 96 dollars you would think they would be better.

There is so much potential for this place in regards to location but in regards to a nail salon, it's only a step up from doing your own nails at home. The nail color selection and brands were bare minimum. The atmosphere was bizarre. I only stayed because I didn't want to do my own nails at home. Every other nail salon was booked so I accepted the bare minimum and racked it up to a weird experience that I laughed about later with my friends.

Helen is the best on the mountain!! She's fast and will always try to work you in. I highly reccomend Spa at Black Forest.

STAY AWAY!!! I didnt want to post any stars but yelp makes you mark at least one in order to post. I took my teenage daughter to enjoy a manicure/pedicure. I had never been to this salon as we are weekenders here but decided to try it as the sign read, "walk ins welcome". First red flag should have been the sign that read "$5.00 for credit card charges". I was getting a pedicure and my daughter was getting a gel manicure. They asked me to sit down in what was a desk chair and in front of me was a small "for home use" footbath like you would buy at walmart. My gut feeling was to leave at that point but I didnt. The male Asian who worked at the salon began on my daughter's manicure when she looked over to me and mouthed that she wanted to leave. After about 5 minutes the female Asian worker replaced the male and continued with my daughter's manicure. My daughter again looked at me and said she wanted to leave. I wanted to finish my pedicure when I noticed the lady doing my pedicure had tossed the used cuticle clippers (used on my feet) back into her box that contained other clean instruments to be used on others. This disgusted me and at that point my daughter tells me that her fingers are bleeding. I asked her to get up and come show me. In fact her fingers were bleeding. I told the lady that was doing my pedicure to stop, I didn't want her touching my feet anymore. I told the lady who cut up my daughter's fingers that she was to stop. The lady tried to say that it was because my daughter's cuticle were bad so they had to cut more. I am a licensed cosmotologist and i was taught differently. My daughter gets manicures quite often back home and NEVER has this happened before. They told me that I didn't have to pay for my daughter but that I had to pay for mine as mine was almost done. I told them that I didn't feel I should have to pay full price for mine because it wasn't completed. They still insisted I pay. I informed them that I would be filing a complaint with state board, and I will. I also used my American express card so that I can dispute these charges. This place is dirty, unprofessional and not once did anyone apologize including the owner of Black Forest Lodge who owns the spa. I will make sure to advise everyone to stay away from this disgusting place.

Stacey does outstanding hair! Color, cut, style! She is super friendly and always does exactly what you request, it's hard to find such a consistent stylist!
