Smart style salon. I've called corporate, posted this review on google and now Yelp. Submitted a contact form and now I'm posting it on social media in hopes to get the attention of the owners of #smartstylesalon I walked into your location on Happy Valley Rd & I-17 in Phoenix to encounter this stylist who states that she is the manager. The salon was completely empty and she was just sitting in the chair so I asked if I could receive a cut in style. She looked at me and stated, what do you mean what kind of cut in style because I don't do curly hair. !!!!! I walked into the salon with my hair, pulled up into a bun it was completely straight and showed no curl pattern at all so I asked her what made her assume that I had curly?? to which she had no response. She stated again I don't do curly hair. I've never done curly hair. To which I ask again what made you assume that I have curly hair since my hair is completely straight. We are the same skin complexion so what would make you think I have curly hair to which she responded well because I have curly hair. So I stated you do your hair on the daily basis and you have curly hair so if I did have curly hair, why wouldn't you be able to do mine? She became extremely frustrated and was unable to answer the question. I told her that her comments were racist to which she responded. I'm sorry if I said something wrong. I asked for the manager, however, she stated she was the manager, and that there was no one above her, except for the owner, and that she could not give out the owners information. I am a multi ethnic background woman who's skin tone is no darker than hers however I am mixed with African American and I guess that's why she assumed that my hair was going to be a texture that she was unwilling to handle. It's a shame in 2024 that we still can't be serviced!

Like some other customers, I am through with Smart Style. The people who work there have absolutely no manners and no customer service. I am very disappointed because I go to Wal*Mart frequently and it would be convenient if I could get a hair cut when I am there. The hair cuts I have had in the past range from excellent to terrible. Your supervisor needs to be present more of the time so he can see what is going on. If I owned the salon, I would plant some "customers" and see what they have to say. Absolutely no customer service! They could do a lot better!!
LAZY LAZY LAZY!!! There were 2 stylists at 6:22pm IDLE. I was happy that there were no customers. Guess what? I was refused service because they wouldn't be done by 7pm. Nothing elaborate, it was for a quick wash and blow dry. They just wanted to sit around and get paid for nothing. The owner of this franchise should know about this. Your employees, especially the blonde washed out looking woman, did all the talking. She whispered to the one with short dark hair, then took it upon herself to deny me service. I never give reviews only if I had terrible service. This is one. I maybe done with smartstyle franchises altogether. The one at 59th Ave and Bell, overcharges me, this one at Norterra has the blonde lazy stylist!! Customers beware!!!!
Have used this salon at least twice a year for my mother, daughter, and myself ever since the salon opened. They do not take appointments for hair cuts, only colors and perms, so first-come, first serve. Arrived 10/26 at around 10:15 with hopes of having my daughter's long, straight hair trimmed a quarter inch. There were NO customers in the salon, and a stylist was sitting at the front desk talking on the phone. She ignored us, refused to make eye contact for about five minutes. When she got off the phone, I asked how long it would be have my daughter's hair trimmed. She was very confused by my question, so I asked if it was possible for my daughter to get her hair trimmed today. Her response was a drawn-out "nooooooooooooo" while vigorously shaking her head no. WHAT? There were no customers, so I don't understand them refusing a service that would take ten minutes at the very most. We weren't offered the possibility of coming back later in the day, simply were told no. I suspect that the stylist simply didn't want to be bothered, and hope she wasn't denying service due to my daughter's ethnicity. Salon management should be concerned. We went to another local salon, paid $20 for the ten-minute service, and left a $10 tip. Their loss.
