SmartStyle Hair Salon in Hoover, AL

On Thursday Feb 10, 2022, Ms. Daphney attempted to do my hair. She unbraided my hair, washed my hair, washed my wig, and braided my hair (the braids were not cute and did not align with how my wig was supposed to be sewn on). I asked her in the beginning to braid my hair a certain way because of my how wig had to be sewn on, but she did not braid it that way. She braided my hair in a way that was easier and faster for her. When it was time to sew the wig on, she said, "I have to sew it back further b/c of how your hair is braided." She could not sew it on at all. I needed my wig sewn on b/c I suffer from major anxiety, and If I don't have on my wig, I start to play and twist in my natural hair. Ms. Daphney did not know what she was doing. So, I said, omg! I was getting frustrated because she lied and said that she knew how to sew it on. So, I got up to leave because she was wasting time trying to do something that she could not do. Ms. Daphney lied and told Iris Sneed that my wig was not sewn on because I was ready to leave with my little sister. That was a lie and everyone in the shop knows that. If Ms. Dapney did not know how to sew a wig on, she should have said that on the phone, and I would have never gone to that salon at all! But, she lied, and that is wrong. She lied to get a paying customer in that salon. That is wrong and disrespectful.
I asked for a refund for not getting my hair sewn in, but she said, "Well I tied your braids up in the back, so the money must be used for that, and it was only $10."  Anyone who has been doing hair for as long as Ms. Daphney claims, should know that braids should always be tied up, especially if some type of sew in is happening. She was not going to tie my braids up until I asked.  Then, I reached out to the company's manager, Iris Sneed, and she was not listening to me at all. She said Daphney has been doing hair for years and she does not mess up hair. Ms. Sneed was not allowing me to talk. She took Daphney's side without listening to me. When I would say something, she would continue to talk over me. I could not get a refund for anything! I left that salon w/ my hair in braids. I also told Ms. Sneed that I suffer from major anxiety which causes me to play in my natural hair b/c it calms me, which is why I needed my wig sewn on so badly! Ms. Sneed did not care about that at all. They did not want to refund me at all.
My hair was a mess and I do not have a wig on my head. Ms. Sneed was very disrespectful.

Poor customer service. Not staffed well for the amount of walk-ins that come. Poor communication with clients concerning wait times. No alternatives are given. For example, a young man needed a simple hair cut. The two stylist could not provide the service in a timely manner. In fact, he and his mother returned in the allotted time and they still weren't available. So the young man waited again then just left. Communication is key!

This was one of the worst hair cuts ever. All I needed was my head shaved. I walked in and she was asleep. She spent two minutes on me. I had to return three times because of chunks of hair. She wasn't nice at all, didn't even put a gown on me, hair was everywhere. Horrible place.
