Shampoo Durango Inc in Durango, CO

Unfortunately today was my first and last time with Thera at Shampoo. I did a wedding hair trial and after 2 hours and $110 I left with flat, barely styled hair.

I am so disappointed. My stylist left sometime before the pandemic. When they reopened, I tried Thera based on reviews. I think this is the worst haircut I ever received. Even my husband made a comment last night that my hair is so choppy!  Ugh. It is too short now for it to be corrected. I need to wait for a couple of months.

It's always difficult to find a good "fit" with a new hair stylist when you relocate. My first stylist here in Durango had 30 years experience. She did an awesome job, but the wrong cut for my hair type. Surprising. My layers literally frizzed in two weeks. The second was much younger and chopped it all off. As it grew out and I used a curling iron, I could see how uneven the cut was and it left me frustrated.

Because of this, I communicated with Regina back and forth a few weeks before committing. I discussed my needs and my experience, and she was very communicative, and highly recommended Tera.

Tera was a breath of fresh air. She listened to my needs, made me feel comfortable and relaxed, and did not cut more than we agreed (since it was already shorter than I like).

Some how, some way, Tera understood and outshined my last two hair stylists!!! Her cut was the best I've had in years. (I'm not referring to the last two "bad" cuts here in Durango)... but she was better than my last two hair stylists I trusted over the course of the last several years.

Tera cut my hair the way it has needed to be cut for the last six months... I have my layers back!  Not only that, but layers the way I like them, that work best for my hair. (I don't understand why "long layers" is interpreted different ways with different stylists... go figure!) But Tera is very accommodating in every way, very personable and overall likable. I don't necessarily feel comfortable with everyone in new salons, or even new salons (and I've been to some of the most expensive there are, but they  were a much "colder" atmosphere).  Everyone here is down to earth and genuinely nice. The salon is very nice, but more important to me is it is extremely "comfortable," and easy to find close to the post office.

Thanks Regina for communicating with me several times and ultimately for referring me to Tera. (I misspelled her name intentionally... I know her name is spelled "Thera," but I wanted to ensure that people understand how it is pronounced, not just spelled.) I enjoyed meeting you, as well, and will be referring everyone I come into contact with to your salon because it is one of the most enjoyable experiences I have had in quite a while. The last several years, for example, I have had people "dry cut" my hair so that I could get in and out quickly. It was your work displayed through your photos that attracted me because they say a lot about the stylists at the Shampoo Salon.

I wish I took a picture of my hair last night but I was running a little late to dinner reservations... I'll try to post one for you soon because I am so excited it looks the way it was always supposed to, but for the fact that not everyone seems to get the cut right. As with anyone, my hair is important to me, and I've not felt great about my hair for a very long time.

I really look forward to my next time with you, Thera... I will shortly be accompanying my husband for his next cut... and we both look forward to a long lasting relationship with you - as all of you are such great people!

I am so grateful for my long term relationship with Autumn at Shampoo. She is so incredibly talented with her cuts, color, and styling. I have worked with her for approximately 8 years now. She is professional, down to earth, fun, sincerely loving, and extremely consistent. I have had medium length and short hair length styles with her, natural and colored. My texture is fine, wavy/curly hair which I tend to straighten daily and Autumn has been instrumental in helping me find cuts, lengths, tones, and styles that suit me personally. My daughter has very long, straight hair, which can be very difficult to cut to perfection, yet Autumn has always rocked it. She also manages to get it to hold curl afterward with her amazing styling techniques! Both my sons also go to her. In fact, our oldest who is away at college refuses to let anyone else but Autumn cut his hair, and scheduled his trips home around his hair cuts with her! LOL! Our youngest has been seen by her since he was a wiggly little one, and she was fabulous with him. Thankfully he's much easier now that he's older and can sit still. My husband would see her too, but he shaves his head bald everyday! The entire crew at Shampoo is fun and professional. Regina, the salon owner, is wonderful. In a town where other salons I had previously been to can get outrageous, Shampoo is a breath of fresh air and very reasonable in their salon prices. Their Goldwell line of color and Euphora hair products have been a game changer in the health of my hair. I'm so grateful for Autumn and her talent. Our experience with Shampoo has always been top notch.
