I chose this salon online. I had to give a credit card number to get an appointment. There was a snow storm on the day of my appointment, so I called and tried to cancel. They said I could not cancel unless I paid $50.00 off of my credit card, which they already had access to. They emailed me a confirmation that the owner, Shanita, was going to cut my hair. When I got there, she instructed the desk clerk to cut it. When I left my hair looked worse than when I came in. No curl, cut was uneven, and it was sticking up all over the place. Now, I have to pay again to have it done professionally. DON'T WASTE YOUR TIME OR MONEY. If you have an emergency and cannot make it, you will be charged a $50.00 fee regardless. Velma B

Read my previous reviews...I speak the truth. I had bleached the ends of my hair to a 1B 3 months prior and wanted a touch up. Made a appointment for a color consultation with a stylist, please note they offer COLOR as a service in the salon and I only say this because not all black salons will/can/do offer/are trained to do color on curly hair, went there (5/19) to have my real hair color-matched to my extensions as I was planning a traditional install happening a few weeks later. Ateiya said she could do it, charged 25 and I tipped 20%, because I wanted to trust a black salon with a black stylist with my black(ethnicity-wise) hair. Made my appointment the following week (5/26). Came to the appointment at 1:30, but of course she's late because why be on time for a client? She started 30 minutes after my appointment time & she wasn't working on another client. If you ain't got time, say so, don't waste mine I could've enjoyed my day off. First question from her: " what's in your hair? Didn't I tell you to come with nothing in your hair? " NO! You just wanted the money, touched my hair twice, booked the appointment and sent me on my way. She was so rough with my hair, the ends of my hair don't comb through unless wet, so they fought back but she could've shown some patience given she wasn't on time . I asked to make sure she left enough of my natural root because my wefts have two inches of natural root color, that was disregarded. She didn't deep condition my hair after, was not given nor offered the olaplex treatment that is apparently apart of the service that I paid for but never informed of, had to find that out myself. After the service, I told her my hair didn't match and my hair looked like ramen noodles (I wear an afro everyday). I wanted a color service. I wanted color deposited INTO my hair; not JUST bleach, so how does my service only consist of you putting bleach on my hair? Mind you SHE booked the appointment for ME. She said she didn't see anything wrong with the "color" even though I kept telling her it wasn't right., I had even brought one of the three of the my bundles on both occasions so she had a visual. So I thought maybe it's the light, maybe its the shock of newly bleached hair, I'll go home and let it sit for a few and maybe I'm just looking at it wrong. NOPE! I have layers of bleach and clear lines of demarcation in my hair. I've had large amounts of breakage and fallout. The color is completely botched, the structural integrity of my hair was compromised. I called back later that day and told them it wasn't right. 75 for color and again 20% tip. I got a full refund for the service, the consultation and the tip because she obviously wasn't looking at my hair during the consultation , which is the literal point of the consultation. She overlapped the bleached and some areas of my hair were hyper yellow which is not at all the color I wanted. Didn't offer to fix it, didn't offer to make things right, took DAYS for an offer of a consultation with the owner. A consultation for what exactly? To not fix my hair, which was made clear you weren't going to do or to tell me what I should tell another stylist to do to my hair in order to fix what your untrained stylist did to my hair? When you mess up, you apologize and make it right. I went to this salon to feel better about myself and left looking worse and my hair in worst condition. I've lost the appointment for my install, which I had already paid for, $200 out the window because my hair cannot support the weight of an install. My hair is now sun bleached and has turned orange. I have to walk around looking like a carrot and have to deep condition in order to order to give my hair some life. They do beautiful locs, I give credit where credit is due, but the professionalism and the hairdressing skills needs hella improvement. Disappointed from all points but I'm just one customer, I'm not gonna change their world but hopefully I stop someone from going here for a chemical service. If you offer color/bleach as a service, it's serious, it's chemicals, you should do it well; not leave ppl with patches in their heads. This is Black Excellence, not at its finest but struggling to try.

The salon is very clean, and my hair felt great afterwards, knowing that the damage was taken care off. My stylist was nice and knowledgeable. However, they showed up 1 hour and 7 minutes late to my appointment. As in, they were NOT EVEN IN THE SALON until 1 hour and 7 minutes until my appointment began. I can understand if they were already dealing with a client, but running late. But, no. The stylist wasn't there, in the salon. I was so angry and upset when this happened. I took a day off work for my time to be disrespected like this. I didn't leave, because I was desperate, and did not want to lose my deposit if I left. Recently, the salon sent customers an email about customer no-shows and tardiness. Hello, address your own staff, too! The stylist apologized, but not even a discount was given as an apology. I can understand being late for 30 minutes, but an 1 hour and 7 minutes is a lot. It's really rude. The stylist was nice, but ultimately, I won't be back, because of the tardiness. It's too bad, because the hair service was great. I almost sent an email to management, but I don't want to name drop, and get someone in trouble. I don't want to be the cause of that. I'm shocked, because the reviews on their website are great. Going forward, I'll find another salon. Please hold staff members to higher standards.
