I was recommended to Meg Katz at Salon Republic by a good friend. We spoke on the phone and Meg seemed enthusiastic and knowledgeable about hair. She seemed genuinely interested in my concerns and what I wanted to accomplish. Everything seemed fairly normal when I got there (although the building is like an ancient catacomb with non functioning escalators and endless hair station cubbies). She cut my hair and finished up and said she charges a percentage on credit cards, so I gave her the option of taking a debit card, a credit card or a gift card I had just received from work. She chose the gift card of $50 and I also paid $25 in cash ($15 tip by the way!!!). When I got to work on Monday, my office manager asked if I had problems with the gift card because there had been some problems reported. So I wasn't surprised when Meg called with a problem. When I got home that night I immediately Zelled her the $50 so she would have the money and then let her know I needed to get the gift card back so my boss could get a refund on it. I asked if she could mail it to me and she out and out refused giving me a long sob story about how many jobs she works and how little time she has (and she intimated that I must be running some sort of gift card scam). I then had to find a time to pick it up as I am not local to the area. She said she would leave it with reception on a Saturday, but as it turned out I had a conflict for that Saturday. When I texted back to arrange for another Saturday she rudely said I was not "putting any effort into" getting the card back. She said "I am done" and has obviously blocked my number. So just beware of this person. She seems nice, but is irrational and angry and will probably take her frustrations out on you too. If you go to her, make sure you don't forget your keys or any personal items because you will never see them again. Plus, did I get the fantastic new hairstyle we discussed on the phone???? No, I just got a trim. Nothing spectacular.

BEST Hairstylist at Salon Republic in studio 61 hands down is Michelle Clagg. She has been doing my hair for more than a decade and I don't trust anyone else. Even though we moved to the Midwest I would still come and see Michelle every six months to get my hair done.

I bought a Groupon to get service from Hair by Tania at Salon Republic. The Groupon said to contact her by a text message. I called the number that they listed. I also texted the number that was listed. After waiting a month to hear back to make an appointment, I went ahead and booked an online appointment, which was not how the Groupon said to book it. Although I already have a Groupon, the website forces you to input your credit card information. There is no option to note if you have a Groupon. I went ahead and input my credit card information and made an appointment. About a week after I made an appointment, but texted the number stating that I had a Groupon. I had it on my calendar, and planned around it, then the appointment was canceled. The email I got just said that the hairstylist would not confirm the appointment. I then texted the stylist to ask her why she had not responded to any of my texts and had canceled my appointment. I received no response. I then wrote a text message letting her know that I was going to go ahead and leave a bad review. Immediately I heard back from her. She said that it was the first message she had gotten. She asked how she could make things right. I asked if she could honor our appointment for Saturday. She said that she was doing everything she could to make things right, yet did not offer to keep the Saturday appointment. I know it sounds comically confusing. Basically she just said I'm doing everything to make things right and that's kind of all she said. Then she asked me for my name so that she could void out my credit card in the system. She also said that she had seen my appointment, but that it suddenly disappeared from her system and she had been trying to figure out how to get in touch with me. Well if that's the case, why didn't she call the number that I put on the appointment. Shortly after that I saw two charges on my account. I am not sure what is going on at this point, but I would stay far away from this groupon! I am going to be contacting customer service at Groupon, but just wanted to warn you about my experience. Be careful out there for Groupon scams!

I been going here for some time now and been really pleased with their experience and services. No matter who I go to at this location, my hair looks fabulous and feels so great. They really take care of you and make you feel like a vip while there. Definitely recommend this location. Also parking isn't too bad. Which is a plus.
