Salon E in Houston, TX

I like this place! Bernice cut my hair and I think she did a great job! She's super nice too and listened to what I wanted and then consulted me on what my options were. I walked out with a fabulous haircut! I only took away a star b/c the pricing is so confusing. A haircut with Bernice runs about $85, but other people are more or less depending on how long they have been practicing. If you are a first-time booker, then it's hard to pick who you want to try. Does it mean that if I pay $65 for a haircut, it wouldn't be as good as an $85 haircut, and maybe that much worse than a $100+ haircut? I feel that a salon this nice should have the same pricing, regardless of years experience, b/c everyone should be walking out with a fabulous haircut!

I come here to see Tracy - I schedule my appointments through her so the only real interaction I have with the salon is when I actually come in. From what I saw the girl at the front desk was friendly, the facility seems nice and clean, and they offer complimentary coffee/espresso and sometimes bagels and donuts on the weekends. Parking is also pretty easy - the salon is located on Westheimer just before you hit the train tracks and parking is pretty plentiful. Tracy is simply the best stylist I've ever encountered. She'll work with the shape of your face and has a very good perception of what you're going for and what will look good on you. I actually trusted her to chop 14" off of my hair for Locks of Love and she did an amazing job - I have never ever trusted anyone to do that before! She is great, do yourself a favor and go see her.

I received a gift card for this salon and was excited to check it out. Unfortunately I did not get to use it because I was 10 minutes late to the appointment that I had set up a month in advance. Well you would think a salon located between the train track and the Galleria would be a little sympathetic to a first-timer, especially during the holidays, but no. I was greeted with an extremely rude and self-absorbed staff who basically told me to go fly a kite. So instead of getting my mani/pedi there I joined Yelp just to be able to post this as their rudeness warranted the bad press.

I've been going to Salon E for about 18 months -- both cut and color services from Reesie. She does a good job, but working with this salon over time has left me frustrated and looking for somewhere new. It is very difficult to get an appointment for two services at one time (i.e. cut and color). They want you to come in two separate times. And they are only open until 3 pm on Saturday -- then also closed Sunday and Monday (normal, i know.) They also DO NOT include a blow dry and style with color services. I don't get it -- i pay more than $200 for highlights and either have to pay another $65 for them to blow dry it ot leave with wet hair. And often when I have agreed to pay extra for the blowdry -- then they tell me they don't have time to do it!This place is expensive (inside the loop) but they do not offer the customer service to support these prices.

Lawrence is AMAZING!!! From cut and color to gorgeous updos and wedding hair - he is awesome!! And- you will be thoroughly entertained while sitting in his chair! Great stylist, great facility, tons of parking and great shopping and restaurants just down the street. Looking for a new stylist in town- check him out!!
