Salon C Hair Design in New Milford, NJ

Was introduced to this salon via a complimentary haircut coupon. Brought a picture of the cut I wanted - a return to the style I had previously had a number of years ago. I showed the stylist, Donna, the picture and explained that I was growing my hair out and eventually wanted this cut but a longer version of it. I stressed that I needed the bangs cut very short (as shown in the picture) and the sides and back to be cut keeping as much length as possible. I wanted the bangs and ends of the sides and back to be spikey, not layered. Her first words to me were, "I like your hair the way it is now without the bangs." I told her that I appreciated the compliment but wanted to return to the former look. As she is cutting the bangs, I kept requesting that she make them shorter and wider across my forehead. At one point she said that she was afraid to cut them too short as they would not lay flat. I told her that, as she can see in the picture, they will lay flat. She was not following the picture at all. Long story short, when I arrived home I had to cut the bangs myself. The most upsetting part was that she LAYERED my hair; cutting off a good 2 inches that I had been purposely growing out. A good stylist should listen to the client and do what they are asking (she even had a picture). I felt as if she totally disregarded what I wanted and did what she wanted. Maybe because I had a coupon she did not want to put the effort in but, in doing what she did, the salon lost a potential client as I will not return there again.

Unfortunately I am the worst client when haircuts are involved. I prefer a military type flattop, a simple gradient from bottom to top of 0-3 inches. I get EXTREMELY peeved when I walk in and ask for a military style job, and end up with a rounded buzzcut. If I wanted to look like a walking Kiwi fruit, I could save the.money and do it myself. What a PLEASANT surprise and even enjoyable experience when I asked my usual request, and was immediately told that it was a possibility. Not only was it done right, but even met my unusual standards. Great cut and nice experience with a very friendly staff. I highly recommend this establishment to anyone without a second thought.

A great big shout out to Chris , the owner for making special arrangements to allow my daughters bridal party and make up artist to "take-over" her salon in preparation for our November afternoon wedding. Chris, Tara and Donna worked seamlessly to keep us on schedule and get us all dolled up to everyone's satisfaction! Thank you Salon C for jumpstarting our most fun, memorable day !
