Salon By Michelle Kristin in Houghton, MI

I no longer live in Michigan, but I make it a point to have Kristin cut my hair whenever I'm in town because she seriously gives the best haircuts. She always listens to what I want and is skilled enough to give me whatever I want, but she also provides solid feedback and excellent suggestions and I always seem to end up with an even better haircut than I could have possibly hoped for. Kristin is the BEST!

I went back here despite a couple of rough experiences with other stylists and would recommend Kristin Riutta ANY DAY. I usually wind up getting in later in the evening and she never acts impatient or rushed, she listens to what I ask for, does what I ask for, and gives me tips on how to take care of the style afterwards.

I went here about five years ago when I first moved to Houghton; usually I don't remember individual hair cuts but I will never, ever forget the time I went to Salon by Michelle. Michelle had no interest in me being there whatsoever. Maybe she doesn't like college kids or was just having a bad day, but the only "personal" thing she actually said to me was "Your hair color looks really bad on you." Thanks Michelle. She offered no suggestions, just told me I looked like shit and left it at that. Along with her compliments, she also managed to destroy my hair. I asked for a small trim of just an inch off and while she was bitching to her co-worker about other clients, she must've lost track of what she was doing because she cut about four inches off one side and angled it down to about an inch off the other side. It was a pretty jagged angle, too. After leaving I realized how horrible it was and stopped back in the next day to see if they could fix it. They told me they could - for another 20 bucks. I refused and brought my sorry ass to Walmart where I paid $13 to get it level enough to look decent. Unless you like your stylists having a complete disregard for what you want, I would highly suggest going somewhere else before you go here.
