S & J Hair Salon in San Francisco, CA

Just terrible, if they had a zero star I would give it. There was no mention of tips being required or no credit cards allowed. A few of us got the $19.99 foot massages and at the end they demanded a $5 tip from each of us, but we didn't have enough cash on hand. They demanded we go to an ATM to get the tip. Two workers followed us to the ATM! We felt threatened and extorted. Also, they talk too much among themselves and don't give good massages. We will never go back here again.

HORRIBLE EXPERIENCE!!! I get pedicures in SF every few weeks at different places. Some very good and others are ok, but this was ridiculously bad. I got a foot message and pedicure. The lady had no clue what she was doing. It didn't seem like she has any training in massage or nails. Completely scammed me on the price and my total ended up being nearly $60.00. All the previous bad reviews are correct.

Turn around and RUN THE HECK AWAY FROM THIS PLACE!! We were waiting for our number to be called at Great Eastern Dim Sum, and saw a sign for $19.95 manicure/pedicure, regularly $10 for mani and $28 for Pedi. I thought it was a good deal, so we follow the directions to go down the block and to S&J. As soon as we started to cross the street, the owner man came and pulled us into the shop. I told him I saw the sign for the $20 mani/pedi. He said the sign was old and that it's $38. I didn't need one that bad, so I said it was ok, and went to walk away. Then he says, ok, for you, I can do $25. $25 seemed reasonable, so I said ok for myself and my husband. They took us downstairs to this weird long room, where there was a facial table and tattoo table, covered by curtains. Sat us down in these chairs and stuck our feet in buckets. We sat like this for 20 minutes before anyone even came down. Then 2 ladies came down and they started arguing in chinese. One lady left and one stayed and started working on my husband's feet. I waited and waited, and nobody ever came to do my nails! My husband was wincing in pain since the lady was filing his skin and not his nails. She didn't cut the cuticles or anything. Just trimmed his toenails and massaged his feet. wtf? We were running out of time since we had been there for an hour already, just for one half a$$ed pedi alone! So I decided to cancel my services that never came. My husband felt bad, so he told me to take the mani. Worst decision ever. The lady that did my nails has never been to nail school. You can tell in their technique. All she did was cut and file. Did nothing to the cuticals and she didn't use the pinky pivot thing that people who go to school do so you get an even paint job. This must be a front for something, because none of the ladies here seem to know how to do anything, and I didn't see any licenses set up near the nail stations.

DON'T EVER WALK IN THERE! I used to have long beautiful hair to my waist , and the day I went there just because I want to get the bottom of my hair curl a little(just a little bit). and I have showed them the picture that I WANT!! and ended up killing 75% of my hair fried!!! and its not even curl at all..I am not even kidding, I mean how can u used so many chemical stuff to my hair and it ended up not curl but all damaged?????? and they told me( TO USE A CURL HAIR IRON OR USE THOSE LITTLE CIRCLE THING TO CURL YOUR HAIR BEFORE SLEEP....)!!!!!! are you fuking kidding me?? because I am lazy to curl my hair that why I spend money to curl it!! and now ur tell me to curl it everyday???? whats the point of me coming to your freaking salon??!! I went there few days later to tell them its not working out, my hair its just like fried hair. they help me curl again like using 15 mins? and it turns out the fuking same!! COST me money too. the boss there was giving me that cheap ass face like I came to his salon for money! WTF.. stupid cheap ass.. at the end I ended to go to another salon to cut my hair from waist to my ear...really really short!!!! SO DONT EVER EVER EVER EVER GO THERE,DONT EVEN THINK OF IT. ps: the boss is same as the( AN AN HAIR SALON). so people thats all I can say!

ROBBED ME. Woman asked me for cash, said they didn't take card. I didn't have enough cash, so she collected what I could give her, and then took me to a different employee, who ran my card for DOUBLE full price. When I asked for my cash back, they refused. When I asked to correct the charge on the card, pointing to the sign that showed half the price, they pretended they didn't understand English. I will never go there again, and hope this review saves someone else the headache and ridiculous excess charge. THIEVES.
