RD Salon & BlowDry Bar (Studio RD) in Clarks Summit, PA

It's a fair expectation that you want to look "better" when you come out of a salon than when you went in. Even upon reading some of the negative reviews that the stylist did a good job but not what the client wanted, I made an appointment based on some photos on their site. However: The only positive point is the stylists are friendly. But to pay $200 for a friendly stylist who does not do what you discussed together beforehand is a complete waste of money and time to say the least. And if covid precautions are of any concern I would not go here: the stations are too close together and crowded with stylists and clients, and there was no wiping down the chairs or surfaces in between clients --- only a temperature check upon arrival. But all that aside: Honest communication is key to any good relationship. What could be more clear than a photo of what is desired? The stylist led me to believe she could accomplish this yet I got something completely different (horrible color) and not the requested cut. When I expressed my displeasure and again showed her the photo of what we were suppose to accomplish, she made an attempt to correct it but the result was still not what was requested. Her response was we would try something different "next time." Again, the stylist was nice but to add insult to injury and be charged $200, and possibly have to pay more money to go elsewhere for a color correction (who wants to feel even more crummy during covid?) well you can be sure I will not be back nor will I recommend this salon to anyone else unless they want to be overcharged to be terribly disappointed. Thank goodness I didn't have a special event to attend.

I was most unhappy with the haircut I got at Studio D. Not that my stylist did a bad job--she did an excellent job of cutting my hair exactly the way she wanted it, but did not listen at all to what I wanted. I'm into specific examples so here they are: I asked for my hair to be longer in the back, not once but three times. When I got home I could see it was dead straight around my body, like she had put a bucket on my head for a guide. She asked if I parted on the side or middle. I said I moved it but generally on the side. She asked if I wanted her to cut it parted in the middle. I said no, on the side. She proceeded to part it in the middle and cut it that way. She asked if I wanted it all one length. I said no, long layers. It is all one length. This next is less tangible but still valid. I believe a good stylist can recognize your type of hair and use products on it to help it look it's best. A woman should go out of a salon feeling pretty--not feeling like she can't wait to get home to make her hair less flat or less curly or more this or less that. She used no product on my rather thin fine hair and it looked like I had slept on it. It was so flat my ears were sticking out. I don't want to go to the extent of naming names which might be a little unfair to the other stylists, but if you are new in town, like I was, go someplace else.

Went through a lot of bad hair cutters until I found Studio RD. They have one in Scranton (West Side) and one in Clark's Summit. The atmosphere is clean, modern, professional, and classy yet casual. I can't speak for all of the stylists there, but Elana (the owner) and Katie are both great. Katie in particular does men's hair pretty well. They are always busy, so make sure you call about a week in advance. I believe they also do other services there like manicures...
