Pure Hair Spa in Helena, MT

I'm always nervous to try a new salon, but I'm so glad I did! Katie did an amazing job on my hair! She asked a ton of questions before we got started and the result was phenomenal! Very personable and a great environment. Thank you for such great service!

Pure seems to have emulated a business model that used to work in the trendy eighties salons of Rodeo Drive, but Helena is a long way from Beverly Hills. They have stylists that do great work - IF you can ever get them to answer the phone or respond to voice mails and/or texts. I've left messages on the general mailbox - no response. My stylist told me that the other stylists typically don't inform others of messages left in the mailbox (so what function does it serve?), so the best way to contact her is through a text. Did that - no response (to either myself or my spouse). The front desk is apparently part of the decor and serves no function. On my first visit I stood and waited for someone to acknowledge my presence and watched as stylist after stylist passed by without a word. Trendy furnishings and funky decor are no substitute for good customer service. We're moving on.

Kristen is fantastic in both cutting and highlighting my hair.  I love the comfort and the modern decor of the shop. Everyone is always pleasant and welcoming.

Kristin is wonderful.  I would give her 5 stars.  I've had my hair cut and colored from her while passing through town several times.  

Then I had Sara for an updo for an event I was attending (Kristin was all booked up).  She gave me a pouf the size of  Africa.  I know she had styled her hair with an abundance of volume, but that doesn't mean I want mine to look like hers.  I'm embarrassed to post photos of that event because it looks like I'm housing a small village in my pouf. Slow down, girl.

Somehow, they got my last review taken down, so I'm writing a new one. Do not go to this salon. They are RUDE.

Upon my first few days after moving to Helena, I was desperate for a haircut. My husband was finishing the move, and so our car was not around for me to drive. I called and made an appointment, letting the person who I spoke to know that I would be walking and was totally new to town and needed directions.

On the day of my appointment, I followed those directions and they were not only vague and incomplete, they were also WRONG at least in part. When I called to get better directions and let them know I was running late, there was no answer. I spent the next thirty minutes LOST and confused, wandering around an unfamiliar area in the August heat, and calling the salon at least 20 times. Never did anyone answer.

Finally, I stumbled across the area where this salon is, and walked in quite upset. There was one stylist and one client in there, and they were sitting and chatting while the client's color processed. She ignored me until I literally waved her over, and when I asked why no one answered the phone, she replied that it wasn't her job, they don't have a secretary, and she was busy. I told her I called dozens of times, and she shrugged it off. When I explained the whole situation, and that it was their fault I was lost, she called me some mean names and I left.

Since when has customer service been SO unimportant to a SERVICE INDUSTRY?? This place is highly unprofessional, and although I like Aveda products, I will never, ever go there. In fact, I will make an effort to tell everyone who has ears in this city to stay FAR away.
