Pon Nail Spa in Ankeny, IA

when I went to come and get my nails done here, the first thing I noticed was the intense smell of acrylic in there I know nail places always have that smell, but it was so potent. I got a headache. I was sat down after picking my color, and my nail lady was very nice and she was very fast ( finish my nails in 30 minutes )but I noticed that my nails had no Apex and they were very flat (I am assuming my nails only took 30 minutes because there was no shaping work done to my nails) and when my nails ended up coming off, they were extremely damaged. I do my nails myself most of the time because I hate paying $60 for something that never looks as good when I do it so I know what I'm talking about. When I know building an Apex is not hard and you should do that with all nails. my nail lady also did not put on a basecoat before starting with the color gel, and I noticed overtime that my topcoat became all scratched after like three days.

I went here for the first time last week. I made an appointment for a manicure and pedicure and was scheduled for 10am. I arrived early and went in and told them I had an appointment. The people at the front desk were not friendly. A man that was there just pointed rudely to the computer and said "sign in!" I signed in and then was told "pick out color" as he pointed to the table that had the color options. I picked my color and then noticed a drink bar. I assumed that I'd be asked if I'd like a drink later by my manicurist. I was there for 2 hours and had 2 people work on me and nobody ever asked me.
They did my pedicure first. The lady was ok but told me she thought the color I chose was boring. I was a bit put off by that. I really didn't care for her opinion nor did I ask for it. I got the deluxe pedicure and expected to feel very pampered. Her massage was not very good. She barely even gave one and she used like a half bottle of lotion. When she was done I went to a different lady to get my manicure. She put some weird gloves on me and the pulled off the finger tips to work on my nails. I guess this is how they do it there. As she was doing my nails she got on her phone and made a call. I thought perhaps there was an emergency but learned quickly that there wasn't. About 10 minutes later a man came in whom I assume was her boyfriend or husband and sat next to her while she was still working on my nails. The two of them then spoke to each other in their language. This was so unprofessional and rude. The salon is probably the most beautiful I've ever been to but I would prefer to get my nails done in a hole then be treated the way I was. To top it all off I was texted a link after my appointment asking for my review. I was very honest and assumed someone would reach out to me. I wasn't going to post anything on yelp until I waited to see if they would try to make things right with me. I waited a week and haven't heard from anyone so I guess they don't care. I will never go back and I will tell everyone I know about my experience. Very disappointed!

HOLY AMAZE BALLS. First off, the inside is beautiful - honestly the prettiest salon in all of ankeny. It's white walls & gold off sets  are gorgeous. The waiting area is extremely comfy (IF you end up sitting for all of 2 minutes) there's tons of employees & chairs.

The quality of the service I have received has been an 11 out of 10. I heard of this salon from a work friend - and am a regular now. I set up my booking schedule for my next appt while in the salon & if you use cash - you are granted a discount!! PLUS, who doesn't love to tip via cash? I am so excited to show my entire crew this location, as it's in a wonderful spot, and the entire restaurant I work for now all refuse to go anywhere else.

I personally, go to Ann - she's incredible with designs, extremely professional & fast. She makes me laugh the entire time we are in the chair & I can't stress how wonderful it is to have a great relationship with someone who loves what she does!!
