I always do my own nails--and they're long and natural. When I break a nail I cut it all the way down, add a tip and filler, an file it so it looks 100% smooth and indistinguishable from the others. The only thing I CAN'T do is give myself a French manicure. It's been a terrible month for me so I went to PA Nails to treat myself to a French manicure. Before I went, I removed the polish and went in with bare nails to expedite things. I was very specific in my instructions that I wanted a solid color base French mani with white tips. When the guy started to file down the first nail, I stopped him and told him I only wanted them painted. He pointed to my repaired nails and said they needed to come off! I told him I'd just put them on and was only there for a French mani. He said the color I'd chosen wouldn't work, that the nail would be visible. I repeated the fact that I'd chosen a SOLID color--not a clear one--for the base. He looked at me like I had 3 heads then shook his head and told me to "go to other lady" up front. WTF? So I did. I repeated my instructions and she smiled and motioned for me to sit. Without a word, she started applying CLEAR polish that I thought was the base coat. NOPE. It was only after she started painting on the tips that I realized these people either don't understand English or choose to INTENTIONALLY ignore the customer's wishes and use the language barrier as an excuse to do whatever they want so they can charge the maximum. She did a fair job with my manicure, but I didn't ask for gel so I left feeling angry and overcharged. I was charged $20--double the price of a plain color change. I paid for it, but I'll never go back! Consider yourself warned!
I love this place. Amanda and her husband are always so pleasant. Amanda is truly talented. I always come in with a picture of some crazy request but she never hesitates. My nails are always well done and they don't argue with me. If I want them short and thin, they're happy to oblige. They're cheap and good quality. Plus they're not awkward. They actually talk to you when you're nails are being done. It's my absolute favorite place.
Worst nail salon ever. To start off, two friends and myself went in around 630pm. They were not too busy. I asked how long of a wait, and they said 10 minutes. Few minutes pass as they rush the girl ahead of me to hurry up and wash her hands, they seat me. I sit in the chair and she looks at my nails in disgust as if they were dirty or something. She starts right away and skips a few steps of how I normally get them done? But who am I to judge her technique? I said id rather get natural, point cut, with gel. She destroyed the shape, and put a gel top coat on and tried to charge me for a gel mani. My nails are now short, square and sore. I'll never return, or recommend this shit hole!
