I decided i was going to get a hair cut for my birthday. I went to the vanguard school of cosmetology because i had a friend who was just about to graduate from there. I also had been previously and really enjoyed it.
My appointment was at 9:30 am  that is the earliest appointment they have which is great for me since it gives me time after dropping my daughter off at school. With the appointment being this early i didnt have to wait long before my friend pulled me back to start working with my hair.
At the vanguard school since the stylists working on you are still students they have to consult an instructor before they can start working. I dont mind this because sometimes the instructors have a little bit different idea of how to get the style idea just to the customers specifications. In my case they decide to dry cut my fringe first so they could make sure they were what i wanted them to look like. After that she washed my hair with a paul mitchell product for moisturizing my hair. Then she blow dried my hair straight and trimmed my very long hair.
All in all my appointment took about two hours but i didnt feel that long since the atmosphere is so laid back and the students are fun to talk to. They are also reasonably priced since, again, its students doing the work. My hair cut was 20 dollars. At a professional salon it wouldve been way higher and from experience i liked the style less done at that salon.
I will always recommend going to the vanguard school for any type of hair treatment. They always do a good job and i can promise i will go there in the future for my haircuts.

My 17 year old daughter wanted to "go blonde" Unfortunately she started w a box and wasn't happy with the results so we went to the school for help. After 3 afternoons of coloring and highlighting we are now $340 into the process. My daughter did not understand the terminology used when they talked about "lifting the color" and did not understand the ramifications - "that it may not lift enough to make sure her hair did not suffer breakage etc" She just showed them a picture of what she wanted and thought they could do it - which they could not.
Her hair is now much worse off than when she started- it is "white blonde" and has a horrible red tone to it and I have nothing but headache for it and will be spending a lot more I am sure "at a real salon" (my daughter's words- she is distraught now despite thinking it looked OK at first - then getting home and getting a good look) to try to get a more natural look again. Came for a simple haircut.. 8+ inches off, layers and some face framing. I was so ready to get rid of my long hair that I felt was weighing me down. I called and they had an appointment for me right away.

Honestly, this is the most satisfied I've been with my hair of all beauty schools I've gone to. The student I had was a phase 1 student and wasn't afraid to ask her instructors for guidance. I very much enjoy my new do especially for the price I paid.

I was greeted at the front desk, conversed with by my student in a personable but not prying way, and the instructors said hello and spoke a little with me as well. I had a good experience and will be back

I had an appointment for 11:30 and u arrived at 11:25. I signed and sat and watched as student conversed with each other for 30 min, finally I was assigned a young lady. Not sure why it was taking so long to be seen. The major problem I had with the appointment is that I switched hairstylist in the middle of them rolling my hair. They assigned me someone who had class and she informed as she was washing  my hair and wasn't sure why I was given to her when they know she couldn't complete it in time. As she is is starting roll my hair another student was asking her how she should roll and clip the hair- didn't mind that but that student informed us she feels bad for whoever will get her because she's gonna do a terrible job. Students or not I think it's unprofessional to say that if this is your field of work and it wasn't funny. People pay money  for these services regardless of their students. When it was time for my stylist to switch the new one was rude and awkward. She moved so slow and just seemed bored instead of trying to reassure me. I went for an 11:30 appointment and did not leave till 1:30 for a roller set. My hair feels heavy with product, wasn't styled good. I won't be returning and the amount I paid I could have went to my regular stylist. They need to improve in time management, customer experience, do not switch stylist (no two people style the same) I gave them two stars instead of non because my 1st stylist wasn't bad she was genuinely felt bad about being switched.

Very nice student. The teacher came to check. The student didn't go all the way to my roots but the top looked good. The teacher should have caught the mistake and didn't. I have an appointment next Saturday to fix it and they took off 15%. Just know they are practicing and have patience :-)
