Palm Beach Tan in Charleston, SC

This place is clean. I stop by when I'm in town and do Versa. The front desk person told me "oh the Versa isn't really working" - so I did mystic. Only seconds later I hear the Versa come on as the lady behind me wanted to do it.

Irritated.

It is not only in South Carolina that the issues are like that. They are the same issues in Fayetteville, NC. They kept charging my account. They even charged me $10 because I stopped the cash app reoccurring fee.  They even charged me for a whole month Of tanning that I did not use at all. And then they refused to give me my money back and they even refused to give me a one month credit. I've been going to this tanning salon for three years as a faithful customer and that is how they treated me. And as hard as it is out here for people to get business, you would think they would treat their customers a whole lot better. But when you call to complain or call to discuss about any issues you have, you said you can never get anyone on the phone. It's always the voicemail the manager is not in. It's always some kind of problem. They are just not a good business. They have actually, in North Carolina, changed the name of their tanning salon three different times in the last three years. It went from Sun Rayz to ultra tan, from ultra tan to Palm Beach Tan. That is a good indication there is a serious problem with this business. oh Not to mention, if you have a credit on your account for any amount of money, you can't use it on anything but their tanning lotion. How does that work? If you have a credit in the store, you should be able to use your credit on anything. Your monthly tanning, your tanning supplies. These people are really bad business. I've been wanting to write this review for a while, as I have been a member of Ultra Tan for almost a year.  I guess this review is as much about an employee as it is about the business.  

I've seen a lot of employees come and go and have to say that Taylor has been absolutely wonderful! She was extremely knowledgeable about all the specials and deals going on, she explained each bed and the different results I would receive. She makes me feel so welcomed and valued! Also, she is always explaining to first time customers the ABCs of tanning in such an informative way that it's remarkable!  She clearly has a great relationship with longtime customers as well because it's obvious every time I go to ULTRATAN.  I think she is more of a tanning consultant than simply an employee but she makes a difference and is the reason I am a loyal member.    

The atmosphere is always clean and relaxing! Not to mention the bed I normally use #3 is insane, it's like a robot that is programmed to make you relax and chill! Ha!

I can't wait to go back already!

Average/below average tanning salon which is fine if you go in for a single visit. Issue is that if you sign up for a subscription, it is very difficult to cancel.  They never answer phone and voicemail is always full.  I cancelled in person, however they kept charging me for 4 months and wouldn't answer phone. I called BBB and bank and had $150 of charges reversed, however, I'd like other consumers to be aware. I also called their customer service number and talked to a person who promised to respond via email or phone, but never did.

Ultratan on Folly Road on James Island is a great place for all things tanning. They have a really good facility that is well managed and clean. The staff here makes it really easy to get in and out and be on your way looking good. They get good results here.
