O BABY NAIL in Monroe, NY

Loved it when it was May's. Always professional, always clean and the staff aways said hello, how can I help and bye bye when you left. Loved it still when it was Maio's, same professional service and customer care. In the beginning,Maio would come around to the clients and offer a cookie. It was enjoyable to be there. Now,ugh,ugh,ugh. The staff is so unfriendly and sometimes even rude. Today, I took my granddaughter for a gel mani and pedi. When she came home her toes and fingers were blotchy, with a dark color coming from under the new gel. I took her back and asked if they could fix it. They said no, it was because of the acrylics from the past. My granddaughter had them removed 3 weeks ago. But she never had acrylics on her toes and they were blotchy too. The owner said there was nothing he could do. I asked them to return the $60.00 she paid, but to keep the tip because they did the job. They would only return her money if she allowed them to remove all of the polish, but they didn't want to re-do the work. We refused, they kept the money, but lost 3 teenagers and 2 adult customers from our family. The owner said that was okay with him. What a way to run a business. YH up near Shoprite is a thousand times better!!!

So I will say that it started out bad. I walked in and wasn't greeted. Eventually one of the guys said pick a color and told me what pedicure chair to sit in. There were only two of them, both working on customers already. I waited at the chair with no water for 10 minutes. Then another customer walked in for a pedicure and sat next to me and they called another person from the back to help. He brought the tools out to start my pedicure and I looked at them and there was someone else's skin still on them. I asked him for new clean tools and he got them for me without a problem. Despite all of this, the callus treatment was one of the best I've ever had, he gave a great massage even though I didn't buy anything extra, and the cost was very reasonable ($20 for a regular pedicure+$8 for the callous treatment) and it ended with a nice shoulder massage. This would definitely not be my go to place, but I would give it another shot.

I walk into the almost empty place and had to wait 20 minutes. I asked for a gel manicure. The whole thing cost $30 which is a little high. They had a book of possible gel choices which I opened and chose marble. The girl doing my nails did not know how to do it even tho it was in the book. She tried three times before calling into the back to have a guy do it. He came and rubbed crumbs from his hands into his lap and continued to work on my nails. He did the marble not well and shoved my hands into the drier. It's been 3 days and they are beginning to peel on the edges. I will not be returning.

I came here for the first time to remove my acrylic and get gel on my nails instead. It started with the guy doing my nails insisting that I needed otherwise, to keep my acrylic and that I just need a filing because the acrylic is fine and clearly he didn't want to do the job. The gel paint was not done great so after finishing he filed them down to repaint them then left and had someone else finish being the manager who filed my nails down again and repainted them. Here is the after. 1 day after my real nails were already separating, 2 days after the sides were cracking and 3 days after 2 nails broke within 30 minutes of each other with no strenuous action. It has been a terrible and upsetting experience from the beginning.

I made an appointment the morning of New Years eve and arrived early at 11:20 am. They helped me right away and the whole experience was fantastic! Their UV light case for gel nails was built in the table which is convenient and smart. She removed my old gel nail polish for free since I was getting new gel nail polish. Their prices are unheard of at least from where I'm from. Gel nails $25 and she gave me a short and sweet shoulder massage when she was done. After paying she gave me a mini lotion bottle and said happy New Year! I could have cried tears of joy because of how well it went. It helps that they weren't busy so keep that in mind wherever you go on New Years eve or in general. I love the champagne glitter that I picked out forgot the name of it but it shines like white glitter depending on the lighting. Thank you Fancy Nails!!!
