I was looking for a barber to cut my hair, there wasn't any open at the time except this one. I liked it. Nice Asian owned business

I went there back in February to get my hair colored. I told Chris that I wanted the color that I showed him in my phone which is also attached in the review. Chris said that the color was too dark and if I go with it then I can't color my hair blonde in the future. For this reason, I followed the barber's advice not to go with the color I had originally planned. Instead, I picked a medium brown from the color book that he showed me. It was no where near "dark" at all. However, the color turned out to be DARK DARK intense black, darker than Asians hair, so black that it seemed like I was wearing a wig. I asked Chris, "This seems to be black instead of medium brown?.... ". I felt that he knew that he made a mistake, and he started to fluster and said because he used a special chemical and I just need to wash it a few times and the dark color will faded. And he just kept emphasizing that chemical. I would like to ask what chemical is it? Are you fooling me? It has been two whole months now, and my hair is still BLACK. Is this what you called MEDIUM BROWN? ? Didn't you say that I should not color my hair too dark if I want to go lighter later on? Why did you color my hair completely black then? ? Now I can't bleach my hair or dye it other colors now. I consulted other barber shops and wanted to get my hair back to what it was before but i got rejected because they said my hair is too dark and it will be very damaging for my hair. Thanks to you. If you can't get the color right, then just tell me. Don't mess around just to make some money. The color is ridiculous. I really do not understand how you can't tell the difference between black and medium brown. How are you a professional hairdresser if you make such stupid mistake. This is by far the worst experience I've ever had anywhere. 二月底去染了一次头发 跟里面的人说我想染黑茶色， 理发师说颜色太深了 如果染了的话 以后再也不能染亮一点的颜色 考虑到这个原因 我就听从理发师建议 不染那么深， 在color book上选了个medium brown。 跟黑色完全不搭边。 结果染出来的颜色 比黑茶色还要黑，比正常亚洲人黑发还要黑的那种假黑，黑到离谱。 不知道的以为我带着假发。我问理发师"这好像就是黑色吧......" 我感觉他自己也知道他染错了 就开始有些慌乱说什么 因为他用的特殊的chemical 多洗几次 颜色就淡了。 一直强调chemical，我倒想问 是啥chemical？糊弄我吗？ 现在已经两个月过去了 头发还是那种假黑没有任何变化。我想问这就是你所谓的medium brown？？ 不是说好的不能染太暗不然以后想染其他颜色就上不了色吗？ 怎么还直接把我染黑了？？？我现在没办法漂头发也没办法染其他颜色了。咨询了其他理发店想漂想染其他颜色都被拒绝 拜你所赐。 染不出颜色直说好吗，不要乱来就为了赚那么点钱。颜色能错的这么离谱我真的服了。我真的忍不住想骂人。

First haircut since quarantine and my first time coming to New Wave to get a cut. I wish I had a picture before my haircut to show how unmanageable it got lol. It's appointment only and I was able to get in the same day which was great! Background: I've been living in Columbus for the past 3 years and it's sad to say that I've left most barbers feeling disappointed rather than ecstatic, and one time even shaving my hair because the cut was so bad... Asian hair problems haha. I'd also contribute that to my inability to precisely explain what I wanted but during those times I was pretty much asking for the popular cut with some alterations to cater for the shape and size of my head. My hair was pretty long going in and I've been wanting a different cut for awhile. I had Chris cut my hair, I don't think I had any other options tbh, but he did such a good job! I wasn't even sure what I wanted going in. Just that I wasn't feeling my previous hairstyle anymore and wanted something with more length. The most positive thing about him was that he's able to suggest, explain, and understand what you want and how it will work with your features. He made suggestions on what he could do now with my current length and what we can do next time if I wanted it. I highly recommend him to anyone who's having hair trouble and especially if you have super straight Asian hair. COVID Precautions: It is appointment only and I think Chris is the only one working so it'll only be 1 client in there at a time, based on my experience. He keeps all doors locked and requires you to call him upon your arrival. If he doesn't pick up then he's most likely finishing up his current client. He suggest wearing a mask coming to the building but it is optional once you're in. There's hand sanitizer at the entrance that he offers you to use and keeps everything he uses sanitized all the way up to the pen to sign your check.

I go to Chris and he always does a good job. We've mixed it up and I've asked for different styles and he is such an expert! i feel comfortable asking him to cut it anyway and he's cutting it even for my wedding. i love how non-pushy they are and have even updated their payment methods to venmo to keep up with the times. very satisfied!
