Mr. & Mrs. Grote Traditional Barber and Beauty Salon in Cincinnati, OH

Listen. This place is THE BEST HAIR SALONS AND BARBER SHOPS in Cincinnati. They deserve 100 stars. Mr. and Mrs. Grote are always polite and willing to take time to listen. I'm a physically disabled woman with difficult talking. Jo Annea became a good friend, because she's to go the extra mile. She'll listen to how I want my haircut. She won't call I a consultation and cut my hair her way. If I like my haircut, I'll tip Jo Annea extra, because she's worth it. I'm sure her husband, jerry is the same way. If I may change the sub, whatever happened to all those GREAT STORES, LIKE McALPIN's, SEARS and POGUE's, in the Western Hills Plaza. They were the best stores, hands down. I, for one would like to return to Western Hills Plaza. I happen to know, that entire adware is a vacant shell. Those Department Stores were the best! They went out of their way to help me. Now, I understand, their employees are snotty and ignorant. Of course, I'm talking about the stores still around and opened. I heard a few of those stores were sold. Don't know why or who bought them; but I'd love to see them all return, ASAP!

If you're looking for a barber shop that offers traditional men's hair cuts with a bit of a modern twist (if that's your thing) - I'd highly recommend Grote's. While they have a few stylists, I specifically requested someone with more of a contemporary approach and ultimately I had a masterpiece of a haircut by Tyler. He's there on Fridays and Saturdays and I'd say he's more than worth the wait. Tyler was just hands down cool. Above and beyond the cut, he gave me good advice about beard maintenance, cleaned up my beard lines and advised on how to groom my beard. I had the goal of growing out the length and he gave me tips to achieve this. The appointment with him was like having a personal image consultant and barber in one, all for a very reasonable cost ($20). Couldn't be more pleased and I will be instabooking a three week follow up trim. Let's face it: a good hair cut can make you and a bad one can break you. I really appreciate when someone has attention to detail, isn't rushed and truly shows interest in getting things just right. Tyler definitely lived up to those expectations and that's why I'm making Grote's my new barber.

Take it back to the old school vibes this place is a treat! You can feel the history. Everyone knows each other very friendly and welcoming. They have smooth jazz going in the background too ha! They can do it all classic or modern hair-dos, warm towel shaves, you name it! Walk-ins now available and Beau Austin has me styling. If there was a coffee shop near here it would be booming but they stay pretty busy with regulars it seems. I'll be back!!

Grote has been around for 41 years and you can tell. Great old fashioned service from folks who have been in the business a long time. They're great with my 3 year old too! If you're on the westside and looking for a solid cut, check these guys out.
