Mimi's Barber Shop in Spotsylvania Courthouse, VA

I have been going to Mimi's for a number of years getting a military haircut. She does the job for $10, if you want a nice and neat place go somewhere else where you pay $20 or more to help pay their rent. If you don't like the way it looks go somewhere else. Mimi is in her 70s and works alone, you need to respect that and not bully an elderly lady.

When my son and I first entered Mimi's Barber Shop I was taken aback by the clutter in this place. Looks a bit like a messy garage, but there was no wait so we went ahead to get my son's hair cut. Well actually it got butchered. Mimi has no idea how to cut hair! She started laughing when I asked if she knew what a fade was. She continued freestyle hacking away at my 16 year old son's head almost taking out his eye a few times while chopping off his bangs and I could see she was pulling his hair with her blunt scissors. So I stepped in and asked if there was another stylist. She said no, just me her. So I asked to see her license that should be openly displayed. She said it was in back and that she would call the police. I told her to go right ahead. I called them, too. Sheriff came and advised me to just pay and file a civil suit against the salon if I wanted to pursue it further. In the meantime Mimi's daughter in law showed up and when I told her that all I had asked for was to see her license she answered in a very rude tone that Mimi was a business owner and was under no obligation to show me her license. This is not true of course. So, the presences of the sheriff, I paid $10 and left. Luckily a great stylist at Great Clips was able to save the haircut somewhat, but of course I spent another $20. This experience has been surreal. Mimi also vacuumed my son's head with the grey shop vac visible in the photos. As my son pointed out to the sheriff and me no cleaning or sanitation of the scissors, clippers or combs was done before the next guy sat in the same chair. This salon needs to be investigated for licensing and sanitary practices before someone gets hurt.
