More bar than bakery. Friendly but slow food service. Limited menu but food was well cooked and tasty when it arrived. Baked goods only so so.

This place is an underdog gem, and I don't cough up 4 stars easily!
The rustic historical building in which the bakery resides has the legit charm we resonate with. Inside is the same with original patina antiques and a library with vintage books to peruse, next to a beer bar.
Food: full menu covered the spectrum, with burgers, steaks, salads, vegetarian, farm to table and all that.
I chose a steak salad with organic greens, side of bleu cheese dressing.
The salad had that fresh farm to table quality, with a generous portion consisting of an organic greens, tender medium rare steak bites, some shredded cheddar, and topped with addictive home made artisan skinny onion rings. The bleu cheese dressing was full of cheese nuggets and was tangy. The dressing tasted like quality, and complemented the steak and greens.
I did not try the from scratch layer cake in the bakers cabinet, but in retrospect, should of got a piece to go!
I wish the young couple the best in this venture, they are on to something.
Our first trip to Milton Baking tonight and the food was delicious. I had the filet tips with mashed potato and my husband enjoyed a Cornish hen stuffed with a cranberry-walnut stuffing. For dessert we shared the strawberry cake. Well worth the 15 minute drive from Virginia to North Carolina. Will definitely go back. The negatives were our young and inexperienced waiter and styrofoam cups.
