Migdalia Dominican Hair Salon in Kenner, LA

Such a pleasant and peaceful experience. The salon is quaint and Migdalia has the kindest, sweetest disposition. We did a consult first. She explained in detail the services she was going to perform to get my hair healthy. My initial appointment was 2 weeks ago and I was there an hour. She was a lifesaver in that I was scheduled to go to another salon and the stylist left while I was waiting in the parking lot stating that I was 5 minutes late...I was so disappointed. My cousin and I searched online and found Migdalia. Truly a God-send.

Bad Service - This salon wanted a deposit to make an appointment, and they were less than polite upon arrival.

Bad Technique, Roller Set - They put huge sections of hair on each roller. This led to a poor finish because there was too much hair on the rollers. This also led to a scorched scalp because there were large spaces between each roller that were exposed to direct heat from the dryer.

Bad Technique, Blow Out - Several section of hair were butterfly clipped and then blown out separately and never blended together. No idea why the clips. I was distracted by poor roller brush skills. Not one spin.

Bad Product - Maybe it was what they sprayed on my hair before the poor roller set, I'm not sure. But my hair was heavy, dull, and flat - all effects of a bad blow out too. It took three shampoos for me to get those, "okay, it's clean" suds at home.

Bad Service, Pricing - When I scheduled the appointment, I told them I have long hair and I wanted a roller set, blow out, and style, and they stated their price. At checkout, she kept my change and said it was because I have long hair and I asked her to put curls at the bottom. Wow.

BOTTOM LINE: Go someplace else. This salon seems to have had bad customer experiences in the past, so they now treat every customer like they wish they'd treated the bad customers in their past. I regret trying to tolerate their weirdness at every step because it carried through to the end and my hair and scalp suffered for it. As for keeping my change, I tip more than that and I'm a bi-weekly regular shopping for a new salon after relocating to a new state. They can keep the change. I'll keep shopping.

My hair looks great each time, but you spend long hours in the salon. Needs more professionalism and better customer service when communicating with customers. Sometimes the owner gets snappy attitude and doesn't communicate price changes until it's time to pay. If you get there when the business opens, sometimes you will be waiting a while outside for staff to arrive with no apology.
