MANE HABIT SALON in Boone, NC

I took my dtrs here for the first time and my younger dtr came out in tears saying "She hurt me!" Not only that, but neither girls looked like they had their hair cut. When I told the front desk about the experience, they offered for my youngest to come back in and get her hair cut, but there was no way she was going to go back into that salon. They charged me full price. Never again. Also, if you are sensitive, the salon is crowded with chairs right next to each other and it's really loud. Not a great experience at all.

I am extremely picky about my hair.  Was very worried when I first got there and the person taking care of me was new and nervous.   But have no fear. Two other stylists helped out and showed her how to make my layers.   What an amazing job Ashlee did!!!   I love my hair and it looks awesome!

I've been going to amber at mane habit since February and let me tell you. She is the best. I wanted to start the process of going light with balayage. The first time I got it she made it very clear to me that I wasn't going to achieve what I was going for the first go round without my hair being fried, which I understood because I had literally almost black hair, we got it lightened and she gave me the most beautiful dimensional brunette color, went back for a tone a couple months later, and yesterday I got another balayage and I could not be happier, the tones, the cut, the lift everything was so perfect. The prices may be a bit high but you pay for what you get and I'd much rather pay a bit more every 4 or so months to have a nice grow out, blonde that lasts and for something that I actually love, not something mediocre. They have the best and sweetest staff ever, they're all so personable and easy to talk to.

WORST salon experience ever. My experience at Mane Habit Salon was less than satisfactory to say the least. I went to a consultation to discuss what I was trying to achieve with my hair, and they assured me it was doable to give my hair a rose gold color with a particular service. After my appointment, my hair looked the exact same as my natural color. I emailed the owner about a refund, and she informed me that  she knew the color wasn't going to show up in my hair and accused me of forgetting that she told me this and accused me of being under the influence of drugs. Absolutely ridiculous.

Today was my second time in Boone getting my hair done. The first time I went to Haircut 101 and was ashamed of their tableside etiquette. When I posted about needing a haircut and color and my previous terrible experience with salons in Boone, Amber's name came up a lot and she also messaged me to assure me that she would be the perfect artist. She talked about how she is an inclusive artist and very judgment-free. Being hesitant due to my last Boone Experience I took the plunge and booked a consolation which cleared my nerves a bit. And booked an appointment then after.

I had a basic idea of what I thought I would like done with my hair and Amber really brought that all to life! This was the most comfortable experience at a hair salon I have had in a long time. She provided a very comfortable experience and great conversation. I did not even realize how fast the appointment flew by and it was about 3 hours that felt so quick!  

I also got my ear pierced the day before being wild and she was very careful when doing my hair to make sure not to irritate it and to make sure I was comfortable the whole time.

This was the first time in a long time when I looked at myself in my mirror after getting home and I genuinely loved what I was looking at. She really brought my hair to life and I really feel so beautiful. I am super thankful that I took the plunge and messaged her back to get this hair journey started.

If you are looking for a place to get your hair done I recommend this place highly. I saw one person get extensions and WOW those were done amazing! Another person got their lashes done which also looked so good! I was also seeing two of the other artists braiding, All the work I saw in those 3 hours I was there was AMAZING!

Was this place a little pricey? Maybe a tad, BUT you are getting really great work done, and you're honestly paying for the great work that they are doing and the overall amazing service. I do not mind paying that price for how great the service was and how wonderful I am looking after. So what I am saying is you are MOST DEFINITELY getting your money worth at this salon. If that is what is making you hesitate from booking, I am telling you ITS WORTH EVERY PENNY!!

I already booked my next appointment (which I never do at a salon) for my vacation trip and am already excited to see what Amber can do next!
