Majestic Beauty Salon in Schenectady, NY

I love this woman and her place. she is so warm and lovely. I bought many necklaces and skirts and they are by far the best pieces in my wardrobe. She is a gem and a healer and a joy to be around. The pure silk skirts are reversible and the patterns are gorgeous. Her knowledge and light are a blessing.

Spur of the moment haircut for my 12 year old daughter, when I saw how great a client leaving looked. Daughter has very short hair; just needed a razored trim and under cut. No wash needed and only a handful of product was needed to slick stray hairs down. As she was getting shaved down, I couldn't find any prices posted... when the 10 minute trim was all done, owner said the cost was FIFTY FIVE DOLLARS. I am willing to pay that much when the salon is a destination in itself, with beautiful design and interior decoration, the price is quoted or posted up front, if the cut is for an adult, if it's not a simple 10 minute trim that I could have probably done myself with the dog trimmer. When I politely pointed out the cost was unexpectedly too much, I was told "You get what you pay for". The haircut was good, so I can't complain about technique. However, I felt like I got MUGGED. The owner seems to be intelligent and kind, so I'm hoping she simply doesn't realize this business practice left me feeling cheated. On a side note. I just took my kid to a barber a mile away: my kid got a razored cut with even better lines for ELEVEN DOLLARS. So no- you don't get what you pay for, if you are getting ripped off.

I love this place! Christine is extremely great at what she does. One of the best blow out I've had. Will def be coming back and referring my friends. You have to give this hidden gem a try.
