Liz's Hair Spa & Waxing in Olympia, WA

i wish i could 0 stars. i'm not one to normally write bad reviews but this was HORRIBLE, k don't know what her name was but she washed & dried my hair roughly like i was a dog. that's when i should have left but i wanted to give the benefit of the doubt when i shouldn't have. blow drying my hair WITH HER FINGERS ripping the hair out my head literally blow drying my hair like a dog. i wish i left at this point. but i didn't. i asked for chunky face framing layers and a trim. she thinned my hair out so badly and gave me blended layers all around my head. i had to go home and cut my hair off to my shoulders. worst hair cut i've ever had. save your head. stay home.

I was a walk in that wanted a haircut and color (impulse decision). I just moved to Burien a few days ago from Chicago and have had the same girl forever, spending a good amount on my hair every 6 months. But, since I moved here I had to pick my next salon and see if it was a winner by chance. I was near Olympia for work and dar this place and thought I would give it a shot... The salon was beautiful and clean; a great sign to me. But, I was not completely satisfied when I got into my car or even when my hair was wet. To start with the positive: Brook-Lynn cut my hair after it was colored and she did a phenomenal job- probably spent at least 45 minutes cutting my hair which was so dead and life-less. Gave me layers and life and I was so impressed with that. The negatives begin here. As soon as I sat in the chair, I was given a waiver to sign. In summary, I was signing "not to sue" if results did not come out as expected/no money back kind of thing. Never have I ever heard of this, even at beauty schools, and i should have known it was a bad sign, especially since they said people have sued before.... The owner, Liz colored my hair after I signed. I had showed her many pictures of a balayage with a much darker base color I wanted (than what I had) with blonde accents. She didn't know what a balayage was and kept talking about highlights and lowlights. I have many friends who are hair stylists and I am up to date with techniques since I would like to one day get my license to do hair and I follow many famous stylists on social medias. She did foils (like for a highlight on the top of my head, Mohawk style) with blonde and some awkward red brown color... ?! (See photos). I could immediately tell from after the shampoo that I had 3-4 blonde streaks starting at the root of my head on both sides of my hair part. I go, okay, maybe when it is dry it will look more blended? Lol what was I thinking I new it needed a toner or shadow root down. And it did NOT look okay. Long story short, I went to another salon after doing errands and seeing it more in the light; I hated it and no matter how many washes I did to my hair, it wouldn't change much. The new salon, very accredited with many professional shampoos displayed and many professional stylists advising me, referred to these "highlights and lowlights" as "stripper stripes" and "piano keys" and we're going to fix it for me how I actually wanted in the pictures I showed. I had a yelp coupon of 15% off which took it from $140 with cut and color to $119 ish. ($140 still being affordable to the $300 I usually spend in Chicago) My phone died and she told me to use the coupon next time... but the reason I came was to use this coupon. I had her wait to charge my phone up and applied the coupon, but I could tell she wasn't too thrilled with that. It is clear that Liz is not up to date with techniques and methodologies when coloring hair. It was a waste of money and as if a cosmetology student who never went through a course just colored my hair like a shot in the dark. I do not recommend this place for color AT ALL. Maybe if you want what was done to me, but who would. I will however say Brook-Lynn is amazing with scissors and haircuts and is the reason why I gave 2 stars instead of 1. She was so wonderful and pleasant and created conversation and kept me entertained through this disaster. I didn't have the heart to tell them I didn't like the color since they kept saying how beautiful it was, but looked NOTHING like what I wanted, nor was beautiful. If you want a haircut go see Brook-Lynn, if you want a color, do yourself a favor and go somewhere else.

I wanted to get a new doe for college coming up, and Kimmy was my stylist. She gave me EXACTLY what I wanted!! The color was great, styling was great, and cut was amazing!! I've been getting loads of compliments! They also were super hospitable and friendly to talk to, and prices were super doable as well. Seriously, this needs to be your new go to place. Thanks Kimmy!

I'm new to Olympia and this is my second time getting my hair cut here and I love the great consistency of how well my hair looks afterwards. Everyone is very friendly on top of their haircutting skills. It makes sense for any Business owner to surround themselves with knowledgeable and experienced staff. Which is exactly what Liz has done, her space is not only inviting and elegant but her staff really takes great care of their clients. My hair is long, strait and thick, so it's hard for me to trust an amateur to cut my hair, if not done right, you could end up looking choppy, uneven and flaws will be super obvious. Liz knew exactly how to layer my hair and feather the ends so that they blended well. That is not an easy feat, especially with my hair. She took the time and patience to blend all my hair perfectly. Definitely found my favorite hair salon!

Cut the back of my hair put mousse in flipped the top of my hair and said well leave this long and didn't even try to trim the front of my hair. I have had bad hair cuts in the past but this is the worst place ever.. trust me I will never go back
