Lando Salon Caeersite in Champaign, IL

Gara McCormick got the Yelp community to remove my review because she didn't want people to know the truth. My review was removed because it was "primarily based on someone else's experience" so, here I am typing a new review based on MY experience with Lando salon. Here is nothing but the truth about this rude and utterly cruel owner of lando salon. On Monday, I called to ask questions about a hair service being reimbursed. The owner, Gara, instantly was offended at the thought of someone not liking her work. She instantly started being extremely cold, stated that she didn't want to talk to me, so I hung up. Moments later, she called me back. She started attacking me. She obtained information about my personal life (how my father figure was not present in my life), she called me a "bastard child", told me to "run to the dad that you don't have", called me a "spoiled crazy bitch" because I had a nice car, and more. She then proceeded to beg me to come to the salon and taunted me as if I wasn't going to come. The next day, I definitely went to the salon (after all, she literally begged me to the day before). When I got inside of the salon, she screamed at me to get out. She called me a little girl, got very up close to my face, and threatened me. She threatened to call the police, she threatened to call my sorority, she said she knew "all about my life" and told my friends that she's sorry that they know me. This woman is the most unprofessional person I've ever met and has so much hate in her heart. Come to lando salon if you want horrible service served to you by a cranky and self hating woman who's going through her midlife crisis. I truly hope that her mental stability increases because the way she is living right now will cause her and whoever is involved in her life so many problems.

Much like the review below this one, mine was also removed on the basis that it didn't provide enough information or details. I find it funny how the owner reported my 1 star review of about 2-3 sentences but didn't report any of the 5 star, 2-3 sentence reviews. Nonetheless, this review is for the eyes of the community to induce you all to AVOID LANDO SALON AT ALL COSTS. And more importantly, to avoid an employee who works there, Gara. Reason 1: Gara McCormick is unprofessional in her ability to deal with bad service jobs. For instance, a friend of mine went there to get a dye job but left with large portions and strands of her hair undyed. She did not want highlights. After this event, Gara did not offer any consolation. Reason 2: My personal experience with Gara and this salon is not much better. Gara was very rude in dealing with the above event and proceeded to call me and my friends horrible names such as 'bastard child.' It was a horribly traumatic event to hear someone who has accepted her position to serve her customers say such awful things. Again, I post this review not to attack Lando Salon or Gara as a person but to provide insight on the service that I have encountered as this salon. I wouldn't spend my money here based on what I've seen and I hope that none of you do either. Don't waste any time or money on horrible service and please check out other salons.

I received a hair color today by Gara, and I was not pleased, but the nervous people I am, I was too afraid to say anything. I came back to my dorm, and my roommate saw the atrocity of my hair, and decided to Call Lando herself. Gara picked up, and my roommate asked if it would be possible for her to re-do my hair (since i wasn't pleased) but Gara responded with "I don't want to talk to you [my roommate]", which I believe is a very odd response. Due to this, my roommate left a bad Yelp review. Previously, I had chatted with Gara during my hair appointment just about life in general, and I did mention a few personal things about my roommate. That maybe wasn't the brightest idea, but I felt as if talking to a hairdresser about personal things is never a big deal, everyone does it usually. Anyways, after the Yelp review by my roommate was posted, Gara CALLED my roommate (she had her number from the call earlier), and told my roommate everything i mentioned about her. This is not a normal practice from a hairdresser, and I feel as if that is an invasion of both me and my roommates privacy. Super unfair and rude! UPDATE: two days have passed, and she told my roommate she would fully refund my money and is not denying it. She is refusing the refund me, but she did not do to my hair what i showed in the picture/ what she told me she would achieve. Do not go to this salon. Childish and unfair.

Came in here for a new hair style... left with severe depression and a horrible dye job.... Please don't come here, but if you do, book anyone but Gara.

Very impressed with this haircut! Miranda did a great job. Usually very nervous about getting my haircut at somewhere new because my hair is curly, but she did a good job and was very friendly. I will definitely go to her again.
