L'acqua Nails & Lashes in Kansas City, MO

My daughter is getting married, and this morning we went to L'acqua to get mani-pedi's; me, my daughter and her maid of honor. First thing that went wrong, is I drew the "short" straw and got a man, David, to do my pedi. He was very rough, very abrupt which was bad enough, then he yanked out a cuticle on my right big toe causing me to bleed. When I noticed it, the pedicurist that was next to him commented something in Asian dialect, and he then proceeded to inform her, and me, that it was because of my dry skin. That was a lie, because bleeding was right in my cuticle, not on my skin. That was bad enough, but after rushing through my pedicure as fast as he could, he took me to the manicurist, Helen, as I wanted tips and dips. Well, I had two fingernails that were cut off to the quick and she insisted they were the only ones that needed to have tips to be lengthened. But several (most) of my nails were very short and I wanted my nails to be a little big longer and to match in length. I absolutely hate the look of having bright nail polish on very short nails although I know that all the young ladies do that nowadays, but I am older, and that is not what I wanted. So then she grudgingly added tips to 2 of my other finger nails, but then she was going to leave all the nails with tips about twice as long as the non-tipped nails. I expressly told her I wanted them all about the same length. Finally my daughter had to come over to intervene for me at which she, again grudgingly, cut them to be about the same length as the non-tipped nails. She kept making a show of comparing the nails to other nails as being the same length but kept moving the one nail down so it would look the same length but it clearly was not. I wanted my other thumb nail to be tipped as it is actually 1/4 shorter than all the other nails but at this point I just gave up.

Also, when a group come in together as a wedding party, they should be kept together, but David shoved me off in a corner far away from where my daughter and her bridesmaid were so I just had to sit there in silence all alone. In addition, my daughter wanted a specific color for both mani and pedi, and she was informed that if she didn't pick a color off the board, that was impossible. She ended up getting French tips for her finger nails and a light color on her toenails, but she has never not been able to have the colors match at other salons. Also, if you want a flower or other design besides white or black, you will not get it at this salon. That's all they have. No sparkles, rhinestones, or different colors like other places, just white or black.

And when I got home, I realized that David actually cut my big toenail on one side very long on one side, short on the other in basically a deformed trapezoid shape. It looks awful, and we are all wearing sandals for the wedding so my toe will look quite deformed. If I have time before Saturday evening, I will go another salon and get a good pedi. You can see from the photo how that big toenail is not cut correctly.

That was in the morning, now it's over 9 hours later and my big toe still hurts where David caused it to bleed. If this gets infected, they will be hearing from my lawyer, but I will never ever go back there and I strongly advise everyone to stay away that would like to have a good experience or decent customer service. It really made for a sad time for something that should have been enjoyable due to such a momentous occasion. :-(

Love/hate!!! I love the way all the ladies wax my brows,great job every time!!BUT~ yes~BUT MAN, the main girl that seems to run that place(no name tag)SUCKS with attitude :/.  She can make you feel stupid with her looks at you and never smiles no matter how nice I am to her..If this place wasn't so close to my work I'd never go bad.  I will probably quit going anyway  Sorry to the staff that's good at their job you can thank her

I have been to this location twice. Each time it has been clean, quiet, and the overall a pleasant experience. My nail technician Trina is fabulous; as I have used her for several years. She makes you feel comfortable and ensures that you enjoy your pedicure or manicure. She takes her time and it shows. I never feel rushed.
I will say that there are several dip colors/brands to choose from, and the way they are organized is a bit overwhelming. Make sure to take a picture of the color/number you want so that you don't have to go back a search for it.

Let me preface this by saying I've only written 2 Yelp reviews EVER and I only do it when I need to. I've gone to this salon at least 5 times and today was finally the last straw. Whenever I go to this salon I feel incredibly uncomfortable. Let me give a few examples...first, one of the technicians cut me, she didn't even apologize and just said "oops"...I was getting my nails done for a special event and had a huge cut on my finger that showed up in many pictures. During that appointment the cut was so bad that the bleeding wouldn't stop for 15 minutes. I went back to the salon thinking that this occasion was just an accident and it must've been her, but nope. I have been cut by a different nail technician when I was getting my nails done for a possible ENGAGEMENT. The nail technician also calls me a child when I am in my late 20's. This always makes me feel uncomfortable. Today, the nail technician also said 2 of my nails look like smoker nails...I in fact DO NOT smoke.
I go to get my nails done to have a positive experience to make me feel beautiful and pampered, but instead I leave feeling bad and sometimes ugly. This will be the last time I go to this salon.
