Kidz Cuts in Freehold, NJ

I've been to this salon in the Freehold Raceway Mall on three occasions for my preschool-age son. Half of the salon is for adults and the other half is for young children. While they have little cars for the kids to sit in while getting a cut, cartoon and comic book character wall art, and a TV playing cartoons, this is not a very child-friendly place. The first time we went, the hairdresser cut my son's hair at lightning speed and without a word, not caring at all that this is his first haircut and that he was terrified. She wanted to run over to the adult side to cut another client's hair. After that, we decided to take our business elsewhere and found a much better salon for kids, which unfortunately closed, leaving us with this place again. The second time, we got a different hairdresser. She was friendlier and took her time, though she did seem a bit timid, almost scared of kids. This second time was not as bad as the first so we decided to return. The third time we got another hairdresser, and from the second my son sat down you could just tell she wanted to be elsewhere. My son was on his best behavior for this cut, yet this hairdresser was visibly annoyed. My son has curls and every time he's ever had a cut, the hairdressers have always used scissors. When she asked if we wanted scissors or an electric razor, we, of course, opted for the scissors since that's what we're accustomed to with his curls, plus, the noise of the electric razor would probably freak him out and we'd never get the cut. She was not happy with this and was so short with my son and was overly preoccupied with cutting her fingers on the scissors. She was incredibly impatient, rude, and downright unpleasant. Her way with children was just terrible and made us wonder what she was even doing being near children let alone cutting their hair. It was extremely unpleasant, and I could not wait to get out of there. Not to mention, it was his worst hair cut ever, very uneven and poorly done. We gave this place three shots, but this last time was just unacceptable. If you're going to have a business catered to small children, then you need to hire staff who are equipped to handle the job. And, just because you can cut hair, does not mean you can cut children's hair. This place needs to work on finding the right people. I'm sorry it didn't work out; it was convenient for us and looked cute from the outside.
