Kadie Kalos Braiding & Styling in Woodbridge, VA

Love love LOVEEE!! I had booked an appointment somewhere else prior and got cancelled on last minute and had to get my hair done asap and found Kadie's shop, upon my arrival I was very pleased because I was kindly greeted and felt very welcomed. The wait wasn't as long as I expected it especially for a walk in. When I got seated in a chair the lady who did my hair was a sweetheart and was very gentle and patient while detangling and sectioning my hair while I'm very tender headed and have thick hair. While braiding my hair the lady would ask in between if it hurt or if it was to tight and it was not she wasn't heavy handed and like I said before she was very gentle. In the end my hair came out very nice and very neat, I will not be going nowhere else to get my hair done. Overall 10/10 experience.

First I wanna say thank you to the wonderful ladies that took their time to carefully do my hair due to the fact that I'm veryyy tender headed. The braids came out perfect the service was on point, everyone was very polite and kind loveddd it EVERYONE SHOULD DEFINITELY CHECK IT OUTTT!!!!

I was referred to this salon by a good friend so on April 30th I went and had braids done by the owner. It was my first time at the establishment and they all were very nice. However, right after leaving the shop instantly my head and neck was itching but I didn't think anything of it because I don't normally do braids or put fake hair in my hair so I figured I had to get use to it. Within the second day I started getting bumps on the back of my neck and scalp and my head was itching so bad uncontrollably. With in the second week of having these braids I literally had to wash my hair to soothe my scalp, no braid oil, sheen or anything was helping. For the $270 that I was charged I would never excepted to be faced with what happened once I took the braids out in the short amount of time they were in. On May 29th I started to take out the braids to my dismay the hair quality was different than what I was shown the day before, second my hair was Extremely tangled and matted. For two days I tried to detangle/ un-mat my hair with no success. Needless to say I was devastated when my hair stylist of eleven years told me she had to cut my hair. The anger in my heart would not allow me to visit the shop but just know the damage has taken a big piece of me. The photos are before braids, braids, aftermath of braids. I've been meaning to write this review since July... so here I go. I went to Kadie's in July to get thick Marley twists for the summer. Before I made the appointment, I went to the salon, spoke to the owner, and asked her how much everything would be (wash, styling, and hair packs). Once we both agreed on the price I made the appointment for the next day. When I got there, she forgot that I needed a wash and tried to do my hair on dirty hair. I stoped her and the other 2 ladies that were about to start and reminded them that I needed my hair washed. One of the ladies proceeded to wash my hair (where she barely touched my scalp) but for whatever would not wash the back of my hair after I kept telling her she needed to do that. Once the installation started, the owner had to tell and give instruction to the other two women how to do my hair with her guidance. Then the owner left my head because she forgot that she had an appointment with another client - leaving my head to the women whom she was coaching. After they finished I had to wait 30-45 minutes for her to finish up the other client she left me for. Once she came back over to cornrow the top of my hair (because she said the other women didn't know how to cornrow - which is ridiculous) she told both of the women that my hair was inconsistently twisted (one half of my hair was a bit thicker than the other side). After my hair was done and I proceeded to check out, she ATTEMPTED to charge me a whole 30 dollars more. I asked how and she said because the 2 ladies made my hair fuller than what I've requested. I let her know that that was not my issue and they should have been more careful. After going back and forth with her I paid 15 dollars more than what she originally said. THEN LATER ON THAT NIGHT.... my hair starts unraveling! I called the next day for her to ask me to come in the following day after that. When I got there and told her that some of my hair was unraveling she got EXTREMELY defensive. She asked me to start pointing out each twist that was coming out while she was pulling on my hair and refused to allow another woman (different from the day before) to help me point out the twists that were coming out..... even though the other woman said she can already see where my hair was coming out and was actually showing the owner which twists needed to be fixed. The other two woman actually took up for me when the owner kept getting defensive. I left after she fixed a few but I had a feeling she didn't fix them all. I left and came back 15 minutes later and told her that she needed to fix the rest of my hair because my hair was still coming out due to inconsistency. She was nasty, had a bad attitude, and then had the nerve to attempt to speak in tongues when I let her know that she was wrong. She did redo some of the twists but they did not stay that way. My hair was completely coming out of the braids after a week. I WILL NEVER GO THERE AGAIN! I'd advise others to go to another braider if they want to avoid my experience in low quality hair care, low quality hair braiding, jacked up pricing at check out, and attitude when you're unhappy due to their low quality work.

I love this place and Mrs. Kadie she's really nice and friendly. My hair be's bang up but she always squares me away this was my second visit today in 3 months.
