Joy Spa & Nail in Rochester, MI

Went here because I couldn't get into my regular salon. Showed up early so I could pick a color. Was moved seats twice and it took 3 people to do my nails. Only the one young girl speaks English, so she was trying to do everyone's nails. They were trying to force me to do a certain style of nails I did not ask for. There was nothing sanitary about this place either. I watched them not clean anything and reuse nail files and foil for a nail soak off and all this other stuff. They need to be inspected for sanitation! Absolutely horrific experience. They need to be shut down. Note for the employees, don't reuse stuff in your customers without properly sanitizing your dremel bits first! Nasty

I will never, ever, ever, EVER spend a penny here again. I came in for an appointment with Mary, asked for Chrome polish, and she looked at me like I was crazy. Luckily, someone else found it for her and told her how to use it. However, she spend the entire time pointing out other colors and trying to get me to change my mind. It wasn't until it chipped within hours of my appointment (which shouldn't have as it was gel) did I realize she wanted me to get something different because she clearly had no idea what she was doing. Additionally, she kept wanting to change the shape of my nails. Within days, all of my nails were chipping and peeling. In addition I was not told how much extra it would cost for chrome (more than any salon I've gotten it done at) nor was I told the upcharge to remove the gel I had on my nails, which is typically included if you're getting gel again. Also, everything looked old and dirty and in desperate need of renovation.

I've been coming here for years. I love the atmosphere. It smells nice, they play good music, everything is comfortable, it's very clean, and the nail techs are all so kind and interactive. I get my my full sets done by Michael and he does a phenomenal job. Very professional and quick. Mesa does a wonderful job with regular, gel, and dip manicures/pedicures as well.

New to the area a year ago, this was my first stop at finding a new nail salon and I never looked elsewhere. Owner, Ana, is SO sweet. She is so flexible when you need to reschedule appointments. Maysa is amazing and listening to the needs that I want for my nails.. shape, extra coats of color, etc. I also really appreciate the variety of color options!!

Visited this salon for the first time 2/26/22. Pro...they were able to accommodate our last minute request for two dip manicures. Con...I asked for a color by name (OPI bubble bath). I said I wanted it to be a bit transparent and not so opaque. It was way more pink than I expected. I made a comment before he started that it seemed too pink. He told me no it wasn't. I've only had dip once so I wasn't quite sure if it may go one lighter than it looked. After the first coat, I knew it wasn't what I wanted. Again, I said I thought it was too pink and he just kept saying it's what I asked for. Went ahead with 2nd coat. Not going in right direction. He also aggressively filed my long nails down to the nub. After he did my pinky I had no choice but to continue so they'd be somewhat even. No lotion, no hand massage. On a positive note, he did add a coat of gel funny bunny (upon my request) to offset the pink tone. Will not be returning. One star for fitting us in and one for the nice tech at the next station who tried to smooth things over.
