Wonderful salon!!! Haley is our go-to hair stylist and for special occasion make up. Highly recommended

To be blunt, I only picked this salon because it is literally down the street from my house and I'm super lazy.

My first visit, I had a random stylist and she was ok. She was nice. She did the job. It was fine. We had a little chat. And, I mean, my hair is straight and medium-length, no layers, it's not a hard haircut to do. We're not splitting atoms or making a souflee or anything complicated. I don't even get it coloured anymore.

Aside from the cut being what I wanted, the shampoo smelling nice and the blowout looking fresh, meh. It was a salon. A nice one. A clean one. And bonus, close to home.

The next time I made an appointment I was told only one of the owners had time during that day/slot and the price would be a little higher. I was again like, "meh", but I had an important work thing coming up and had left my hair to the last minute (as always) so I said WTH and went with the higher price option.

That extra couple of bucks, if you can spare it, is worth every penny. Seriously. Like I said, my hair is not hard to work with. But the cut I got that day was the best haircut of my life. Sometimes my ends flip a weird way, but the magic of Janie & Ken's scissors made my ends flip the way I want them to. Always! Even if I air-dry my hair, it behaves.

I kept going back and now it's been a couple years and JKL is the ONLY salon in Baton Rouge for me. They also do waxing, so if your brows need a clean up, just ask for a little pampering while you're there. Easy breezy.

Just had my haircut by Ken at JKL. It is the BEST haircut I've had in years! He is a true artist. The staff is very professional and welcoming. A true high end salon experience .

Husband and wife (Ken and Janie LaPrairie) are THE BEST hair people I've ever been to.  

My Mom and I have been going to Ken and Janie for 20+ years.  Their place used to be in New Orleans before Katrina but they are now firmly set-up in BR and we make the drive from Alexandria and its is totally worth it.  They are professionals and very talented and they are committed to staying up with the latest trends--not because its trendy....so that they can evolve and grow as stylists, and their customers can benefit.  They KNOW how to cut and color hair and I have 100% faith in their instincts and skills.

Mom and I always have our cut & color done and sometimes we splurge on a keratin treatment.  We are always happy and of course, we wish they were closer but I give them my highest recommendation for anyone who wants a top notch cut and color.
