Jim De's Salon in Williamsburg, VA

This was my first time in this salon and was taken 30min late then, when I described what I wanted was told it would take too long. I settled since I really needed my gray touched up so I wanted to stay as close to my natural color as possible and postpone continuing with the balayage I was promised when I made the appointment. That said I was patient giving Jim the benefit of the doubt. I did not feel welcomed. When it came time to rinse my hair the apprentice was quite rough and I kept getting water in my face. He said if I just stayed still he could wash my hair easier...ok. I wasn't moving and the shampoo chairs and sinks were beyond uncomfortable. Then as my hair was dried my color was significantly lighter and the owner was visibly annoyed I had some tangles due to my hair thinning (hint if you use good conditioner and a good amount this won't happen) his comb kept getting stuck and he just pulled, and didn't apologize. Just grumbled something about it being Monday, then continued to dry my hair and brushed my face with the large round brush. OUCH! Again, no apology or sense of self awareness that it happened. I was horrified, but at this stage, what do you do? He then began to trim my hair with "flair" I've never experienced this technique it was fast and my hair was separated very differently than ever before for just a trim. I was quite concerned and panicked when he said, you have bangs right?!?! NO! It was my worst nightmare, thankfully he questioned his judgement. I only went here since they are a Redken salon and I had the exact formula from my previous salon in FL which I wanted to stick to. NEVER AGAIN. Did I mention he told me he had an entire staff of 9 walk out a month ago? He told another new customer that was there it was 2 weeks ago.

Just a really bad hair cut all around. She cut it way too short. I asked for layers and she made my layers maybe a 1/2 inch apart. It just looks choppy and like I cut it myself. She used an archaic tool on my bangs to thin them out and it looks awful. Never go here.

Kayla did an excellent job cutting my hair! A little shorter than I like but the cut is awesome. I'll definitely be going back.

Came in for the first time and had Sal cut my hair and my two sons hair. We had a drastic change in my style from very long to shorter in the back and lots of layers. Also buzzed in the back but with long layers so you can't see it unless it is up. He was very capable and confident. Also helped me determine what I wanted. He did an awesome job with the kid's cuts as well. I went to him on the advice of a friend and she was right !!!

This was my first visit to Jim De's, I have been in Williamsburg 3yrs and have tried several places to have my hair cut, I was blown away today, Jim gave me the hair cut, that I have always wanted, but, was always told my hair was to thin and fine. He truly is a magician, I am in love with my hair cut, have already made my next appointment. Will never go anywhere else. Love Love Love my hair. until today I would always tell my husband I hate my hair nobody can do anything with it,, not any more! Iam beyond thrilled
