Don't bother going unless you have an appointment, otherwise you've wasted your time. Poor time management and customer skills amongst their staff.
Although there are only a handful of barbershops located in Del Rio, DO NOT go to this one! My first time (and last time) there was an all-around negative experience. Upon entering, there is no sort of sign-in or wait list sheet. If you are not seen by one of the employees, you will not be served. I got skipped several times while patiently waiting to see a barber. Even after clearly seeing I was waiting first, they took in patrons who walked in straight through the door. I felt as though I was being discriminated by not being of Hispanic heritage.... Even if that was not the case, their customer service is poor. I will definitely not be going back.
What a disappointment. I waited for over 30 minutes just to listen to an open barber/stylist talk about how people praised his skills, my presence did not get acknowledged by the staff, and then I get skipped for a customer who came in after I did (maybe he had an appointment). Note that there is no sign at the lobby telling customers to sign in or need to set up an appointment to receive prompt service...or at least have your existence be acknowledged by the staff. I was told that J's has skilled barbers/stylists. Unfortunately I can't provide positive or negative feedback on their skills because I had to wait, not receive service or any form of acknowledgement, and get then got skipped. Based on my experience I say that J's has poor customer service. Just because you provide a skilled labor/service it does not mean that as a small business you can afford to drop essential courtesies to new and potential customers.
There aren't a lot of places to get a proper haircut in Del Rio, this is it. I had a great barber, but he up and moved to Austin. So it goes. The other barber/stylists here are a mixed bag. Individual experience may vary.
