J Michaels Salon & Spa in Cincinnati, OH

I was hair shamed yesterday by a woman who I almost trusted to cut my hair. She was super passive aggressive and after brushing my hair after it was washed showed me a small clump of broken off hair and asked me "are you sick? Do you have Covid?" I was BLOWN away. After that I decided to leave and when I tried to pay for the shampoo she kept trying to argue with me. I said to her after she asked me what my problem was "I don't like the way your fucking treating me." I had reached my breaking point with how I was treated within the 10 minutes I was there. She told me to just leave. I called her a bitch and shame on her for treating returning customers like this. To add also: when she washed my hair she scratched my scalp to the point where I had to let her know to let up on the roughness. She also used cold water to wash my hair and made a comment that she had to wash my hair twice because of how dirty it was. I washed my hair two days ago. I decided this woman was not cutting my hair because of how sketchy she seemed and how just downright rude she was. It seems if your not over the age of thirty you're not apart of "the club" I would avoid this place if your younger. I have video of some of the reaction and found the owner of the place and the video has been sent.

So I thought I would go here and get a spiral perm. Maria was my beautician and she said she had been there for 23 years. I was a half hour early for my appointment and they came and got me 15 minutes late. Then she put me in the chair and commented on the ends of my hair. I said she could cut some of it off but I didn't want to lose a lot of length. So she took me over to the shampoo bowl and on the way she picked up my hair at the ends and showed it to some other person along the way. I was being hair shamed! We got back to the chair and she said are you sure you want a spiral perm? Now it is what I made the appointment for. So she cut some of my ends off and proceeded to look for the rollers that she needed. They found them in the back. Then she wanted some sort of chemical that they didn't have so she used something else and sent somebody to get what it was she was looking for. There was very little interaction or chit chat with her they all seemed more concerned with all of the neighborhood people that were in. This may have been the worst that I ever felt in a salon. I spent $135 you would think that would be worth a conversation. They got three stars because my hair still came out in a spiral perm like I asked for. I will not be back to this salon but judging from the other ratings I would say this is probably a good place to go if you live in the neighborhood and you're part of "the group".

Kelly is awesome at her job. She just did my daughter's prom hair and it was beautiful. She had also done their recital hair in the past and she cuts our family's hair. She is truly gifted at what she does and has an amazing personality!!

I have been going to Tricia since I was 15. I have a large amount of fine dirty blonde hair and have likely changed the color 15 times throughout the years. From full blonde highlights, to red and auburn, back to pink. Trish logs my styles, tracks my transitions and is always able to clearly communicate my expectations from shift to shift. She is a bundle of sunshine, with the kind of disposition that makes you feel like you're a treasure for being there. I have NEVER left with something I didn't like, but even if I had Tricia would have written me write back in her book to get me adjusted. Trish is that permanent delightful stylist you'll go to once, and come back to time and time again because you trust her, because she's a genuinely good person, and most importantly because she's amazing at her job. She'll help make you look like your best self, be honest and tell you when certain choices would not be a good look for you. So have fun playing with your hair color again, but with someone you can trust to get it right.

I just wanted to take a second to shout out TERESA! She is a godsend. I came in last minute for a color correction right before the salon closed. She didn't have to take on my hair project, but did it without any complaints. She took her time and consulted with me to get a game plan and then executed that plan. When I came in, my hair was basically blue and grey striped with orange roots and she transformed my hair to a perfect Icy blonde. She stayed over an hour past closing time and never rushed the process. Might I add, I'm in town from Chicago where I live and trusted the wrong salon to help me out(not j.michaels). Teresa was patient and kind and did everything to her ability to make sure that I wasn't walking out of there unless my hair was exactly what I wanted. I also have to say a huge thank you to Maria who helped tag team my hair and formulate and apply the toner to get me to the perfect shade of blonde I was originally desiring. The staff was so friendly and wasn't going to let me leave until I was 100% happy. Great staff with great skills. Thank you ladies!!!!
