The experience itself was nice but quality- I'm overall disappointed. Got my hair done by Zavier and she was just SOOOO nice. Which is why it pains me to write this review. We talked about what I wanted done which was a relaxer for my bangs so I wouldn't have to straighten it. She was attentive to my needs about not wanting it too short and not wanting the ends to be too thin but then somehow. Someway. Everything went down hill. After she placed the relaxer she combed the hair straight back, went to make a phone call and told her apprentice that if it was tingly to wash it out- me ignorant thought it was normal for it to tingle... I even asked if she was gonna apply the relaxer to the ends of my hair because that's where it's most curly- which she did not. Fast forward to the haircut she that deemed that I had a cowlick which I swear I've never had my entire life but I'm convinced it was because of the direction the hair was laid with the relaxer while it was setting. My hair doesn't lay the way I want it to now and guess what? Ends are still WAVY and my roots have burned off. My scalp has that texture of a mans fresh cut. She blow dried my hair and overall it didn't look too bad. So I had left- I then pulled it apart to see that the ends were WAY too thin and decided to go back for her to fix it. But she was GONE for the day. Fingers crossed that my hair grows back fast! I ultimately just cut the ends to my liking. Unfortunately I won't be going back. Granted it was just one person- maybe if I had gotten someone else it would have been different. I'm a sad panda. And would like to hide in shame now. Update: my scalp still feels like a fresh mans cut, and I've discovered scabs from the burn. Can I get a refund?!

Went to this neighborhood salon for a Brazilian wax. Teresa is a very pleasant and professional esthetician. I liked that she finger-pressed the area right after ripping the strip to diminish the pain. However, I'm a little surprised she wasn't going to do my 'back' until I pointed it out. And the leg part wasn't considered after all. I'm more shocked with a selective tier-pricing system for the service: $85 for new clients, and $65 for repeat clients. Add a tip, and you are looking into spending $$$, not a very welcoming rate considering what other salons in the area charge. You might make money in the short run, but loose it (and the clients) in the long run.

Very disappointed. I tried to use a gift certificate that was just over a year old, and the new owner refused to honor it, or even offer a discount or other consideration for the service I was wanting to schedule. There is no expiration on the gift certificate and, when purchased, we were told it wouldn't expire. As a resident and business owner in Riverdale I'm very disappointed about the lack of quality demonstrated by the person who refused to honor the certificate. For the price of a pedi they lost a customer. Doesn't bode well.

Be prepared to park behind the building and ring the bell to get into the back door. The environment is typical, all the ladies talk about everyone when they leave. I got feed in braids done by Netta. I too am natural and was frustrated to learn that my hair needed to be blow dried and hot combed after arriving. But I went along with it. The braids turned out nice. They lasted for two weeks. After all of the heat used to achieve the style, I just knew the stylist had ruined my curl pattern. I deep conditioned for a while after taking the braids out and luckily my hair bounced back. I could tell my edges had suffered a bit because of this style so I included Jamaican Black Castor Oil in my regimen and all seems to be fine now. My favorite part about the whole experience was probably the drying area. There were about four hood dryers, a tv, and magazines in one room. That was a nice touch. Will I return? No.

I've lived in the area for about five years, and was desperately in need of a new barber. When I found Fred, my search came to an abrupt end. I had finally found the barber that I've been looking for my entire life. Fred is the best barber I have ever had. He does work by appointment only, so make sure to call in advance because his services are highly in demand.
