Intoto Salon by JUUT in Minneapolis, MN

I really enjoy getting a bit of a deal yes you don't want to scrimp when it comes to something as important as your hair and when you have fragile hair that doesn't grow much and is fine you just don't piss around. I am quite happy with Juut and although some folks have had their license for a time they are in a training and learning environment so typically it has been my experience that they run everything by you a few times and even get the instructor involved sometimes. Never left here feeling upset about my hair or the price I paid.

I have been an Intoto/Juut customer for the past few years. Got a coupon for a discount on my first color service and decided to take the plunge. Unfortunately the person at Intoto who scheduled me only booked the consult, not the color service For the following day. Now I can't get in before I go out of town and my coupon expires. Extremely disappointed in this experience.

Intoto is a really cute, trendy salon with young and friendly staff. Prices are slightly less than other Aveda brand salons. I did not know this when I first booked an appointment, but the majority of stylists at Intoto are brand new to the industry and still learning how to cut and color hair. So, in other words, very inexperienced, therefore questionable and risky results. I love the young people vibe, but hate the in-experience here. You'll run into funny stuff like, a stylist not offering a cover, so getting hair all over my clothes! Not the end of the world, but if you do come here, you might run into that sort of weird snafu. Unfortunately another negative about this salon is that they are ignorant and afraid of working with the hair of people of color. My colorist assumed that because I had black Asian hair, it would be impossible to lighten it to the level of lightness I wanted. I've been getting my hair colored and lightened since 1995 and have NEVER had any issues with getting to the color I want. It would've been great if the colorist trusted my opinion and believed me, instead of arguing with me, I've had my hair all my life and know it pretty well. If you're unable to get the color right, it's not because I have Asian hair, it's because YOU are UNSKILLED. If all other stylists I've gone to in the past have been able to do it, and you can't...um, yeah, it's YOU. I also ran into trouble with another stylist, with my haircut, he attempted cutting my bangs, but cut it WAY too blunt and straight even though I specifically CALLED out that I DON'T want a straight blunt cut for my bangs. When I complained about the bangs, he giggled "tee hee", shrugged his shoulders, and says "Oh, you know how Asian hair is". In other words, oh well, that's the bangs you get because you're Asian, enjoy your bowl cut bangs sweetheeeaaart! Obviously, this stylist was a major airhead, I had to bite my tongue real hard in order not to destroy the delicate dummy that day, but that was plain RACIST. I've been getting my haircut at salons since 1995 from east coast to west coast, from Europe to Asia, and NO ONE had ever ONCE blamed MY Asian-y ass hair as being a problem. In case anyone out there is wondering if beautiful side swept bangs are possible with Asian hair, the answer is YES, YES, and YES. Honestly, I really wished I could love this place and keep coming back but as a grown ass woman with plenty of cash to burn anywhere I choose, I expect a smooth effortless experience from start to end, and unfortunately, there's just too many bumps along the way. If you can't get someone's haircut or color right, it makes them feel ugly. On top of that having the stylist blame it on YOU for your race is insulting. It may have been unintentional and ignorant, but still offensive. If you're a person of color, I'd hesitate to get your hair done here.

I recently just gotten a full balayage done and I am super happy with the results. I am so picky when it comes to coloring my hair and the colorist name Kyle did an amazing job. I have dark brown/black hair and she was able to get it to the color that I wanted (light brown/dark blonde). She was easy going, professional, and made my day. I would definitely be going back to get more color done.

I have been going to JUUT at Uptown, Downtown and now Intoto for years and years. I was unsatisfied for the first time and JUUT reached out to me and fixed it with a fabulous new cut by Erika in the Uptown location. Normally I'm always happy, appreciate the details like the complimentary coffee/water and the little pre-cut massage. But ultimately I am extremely happy because I had my first not-so-great-cut, and Intoto/JUUT cared enough to fix it. I will continue to be a happy and continuing customer!
