On three occasions I had a shampoo, cut and blow dry with stylist Barbie. Each visit was pleasant and relaxing. Aside from being a very friendly and kind lady, Barbie is an excellent hair stylist. Looking forward to my next appointment at "Hair's Everything".
Went there for years. And every so often, the owner or myself would reschedule appts on short notice. No fault,no foul. Then, recently, i made an appt with her to have my hair done before major surgery; I even got a phone reminder. But when I showed up on time, the door was locked,lights off. I phoned left a message,left a note and called again. They never bothered to respond. No apologies, nothing. I even went to their FB page and asked. No response. This appt was a big deal to me, but apparently, my time does not merit any respect to them. Shameful.
I went to this salon because I'm new to this area and it had great reviews. They claim to take walk ins but when I walked in they said they couldn't help me even tho they were not busy at all. They said I could comeback the next day at 10. That should have my clue to run for the hills but I went back the next day anyway. I had a picture with me and explained what I wanted. Barbie my "hairdresser" and owner of the shop seemed to understand what I was saying and we started the long process. The picture I showed her had long layers in a short style. I had the length to pull this off but Barbie was cutting and cutting and cutting and after over an hour of cutting I had a short ugly haircut! She put some goop on my hair that greased it up and weighed it down and looked completely awful. I tried to make it presentable when I got in my car because I wasn't going straight home. I recommend that you steer clear of this establishment. Obviously they do not listen to their clients or they don't have the knowhow to do up-to-date styles and won't admit it! They also do not follow their own policies as in the walk in policy and they don't honor their hours stated on their site either. I waited two days before deciding to write this review. I didn't know if I should but then I realized that if I had read this review, I never would have gone there and maybe I would have better lookin hair right now!
**Note: this review is based primarily upon my experience with Mary, and from the perspective of a man at that. I cannot speak to the greater business of Hair's Everything aside from the fact that they are smart enough to hire her, provide a clean and positive environment for their customers and (as far as I can tell) their employees. Also, technically I cannot speak to Mary's female hair cutting abilities, though I suspect they are great as she does hair styling for movies (and does a great job with men). I've been getting my hair cut by Mary at Hair's Everything for about 4 months now. In a word, Mary is fantastic. Personality-wise she's very easy to talk to and she almost feels more like a friend at this point than just someone who cuts my hair. Regarding her hair smithing prowess, one thing I always pay attention to is the use of clippers; many stylists cop-out and take the shortcut when styling men's hair by busting out the trimmers. Not Mary. Mary uses three tools to cut my hair: scissors, a comb, and skills. Each time I go in there we think about how we can tweak my haircut so that it's a little different, a little better than the last. We're perpetually iterating into new territory with my hair, and it's wonderful to know that she actually thinks about my haircut before I walk in the door. That is, I'm not just a number/dollar source. Extra/fluffy/unnecessary info: I'm a fellow who reluctantly switched from barbers to stylists after I realized I'd basically been getting the same haircut for 10 years. Having gotten my haircut in Phoenix, LA, SF, and numerous places around Ann Arbor, I feel very luck to have found Mary. She's a... ahem... cut, above the rest.
