This salon is a GEM! I was instantly greeted by the nicest receptionist who made really nice conversation throughout the entire experience. I had Megan as my hair stylist. She walked me through hair cuts that would fit my face shape and talked with me about the hair color that I wanted. I wanted to go brunette, with a lived-in look that has dimension. I had previously had very blonde ends, very similar to an ombré because of how blonde it was, and was so sick of it. At some point after making the decision for color and cut, she shared with me that she specializes in blonde. Even with that being her specialty she respected my wish to go brunette. My previous hair stylist loved how blond my hair could take and despite how often I told them I wanted less blonde, it always ended up more blonde than I liked. Once Megan told me that she specialized in blonde, I liked her even more, because she listened to MY wants - not with something that SHE wanted. And boy did she deliver! At some point I shared that I had considered going red. She advised me against this solely from the upkeep and my desire for low maintenance hair. Again, I appreciated this greatly, because this shows how much she listens to the customer, while also providing her professional expertise. I am so, so impressed by her! The salon was beautiful and the staff all interacted like they were good friends and family. The overall price was much more affordable than I expected, based off my previous salon. H. Mack is top tier. The professionalism, hospitality, and expertise made this, hands down, one of the best salons I've ever attended! I will 1,000% be coming back!

I was double charged for my haircut by mistake but was very cordial and understood things happen. I kept asking for asymmetrical haircut and was told she was getting there. Haircut stopped all of a sudden and she said she was done. I wondered why it didn't look asymmetrical. The next morning I saw the haircut after sleeping and this is what it looked like. I paid about $100 with tip and all. No one offered anything to make it right and I am still waiting on refund of my money for overcharge. I think what happened was this is a hair texture job gone bad and no one wants to own up to it. I would state the stylist's name but I sm not that cruel. I wish I had been treated with same respect.

There are not enough stars in the sky to rate Carlos. He is an angel of mercy sent directly from the heavens above. I have been frustrated and searching for so long and Carlos is THE BEST I have ever known in my 58 years. I came in with super messed up hair from multiple bad cuts. I knew it would take a really long time to grow it out and I knew I needed help immediately I just couldn't style it at all and my self esteem was through the floor. I went in for a hair color and mentioned the cut just trying to get a feel for what he would say and maybe come back next time. He knew exactly what to do and said he could have it done in 10 minutes. He reconnected the disconnected layers and poof, It was a miracle, He blew my doors off! I also had a lot of problems with color. Normally when I dye my hair black, they will put in too much ash or they will put red and even though the color itself wasn't bad, it was very muddy looking, and it seemed heavy on me and dull. Carlos was the first to ever put gold. I can wear red lipstick again, and my eyes are popping out of my face. My whole face is brightened and my spirit is lifted to the moon! I have been searching for years with not knowing why I couldn't get the style I want to be able to look like myself. My hair is now easy to style with minimal to no effort. In the picture I'm posting I just put a couple quick girls to go to the grocery store. I haven't even styled it fully yet. It's just easy and quick but yet it's edgy and I feel like myself. Carlos is also inspiring. He's a genuinely good, down to earth and a sweet caring person. He has a passion for life and I enjoyed meeting him so much I was on cloud nine after our visit. In his bio he mentions making you feel more beautiful when you leave then when you walk in, and this is 1000% true. I absolutely love what he did for me. It has been a long arduous journey and I am so grateful to have found Carlos, my absolute diamond 10,000 star professional! Hercules, Hercules!

I am so glad I stumbled upon this place. I've been a stay at home mom for the last 9 years, and during that time, I would trim my own hair, and dye it myself with box color ( I know). So I've recently finally started working again, and wanted a REAL cut and color. I live in Elgin, and there are not very many choices of salons here. Yelp pointed me towards H. Mack, and the super easy to use and convenient online booking sold me. They even have a short survey on their website that' you can take and it will match you with a stylist. I booked with one of the stylist I matched with, and had an amazing experience. Camilla was awesome, super laid back and super experienced. She explained every part of the process, and helped me sift through my ideas to figure out what would work best. I showed her one picture, and she was able reproduce it perfectly. I got some color, and the cut, and it was extremely reasonably priced. I have already rebooked, and will continue to come here. I found my salon!
