Great Clips in Indianapolis, IN

The only reason it's getting two stars is there is a guy that works there that was so nice to me. But the most recent time I went in I asked for a shampoo, cut and style. The lady working there was like I can cut your hair but I won't wash it cause my back hurts. I was taller than her. She wouldn't have had to bend down very far. Then she had the audacity to ask me how my friend commit suicide and insult him and say "I just don't understand why people do that." On top of that didn't even cut my hair right. Made me brush my own hair out. I will not be going back there unless the guy is working. I tried to call customer service but when you dial to talk to a customer service rep it says can't hear you then starts the menu all over again. Ended up going to the 96th street great clips and getting my hair washed, cut (fixed), and styled perfectly.

Terrible cut - I'm really easy with at least 2 stars for a bad job, but this was horrendous. Uneven length in numerous places, lumpy in a few places, untrimmed around the edges, and the hours are just a myth. Spend a few more dollars and get something reasonable.

Went here the other day and had called earlier to ask some questions about a certain hair style. The hair stylist wasn't sure of the one I had asked for (Wolf cut), but when I got to my appointment later in the, had took it upon herself to look it up online, after our phone convo. She then gave me EXACTLY what I wanted, and did it in like 15 minutes. I usually don't go to Great Clips, but that hair cut was better than the one I received from a fancy hair salon in CARMEL! And the fact they went out of their way to do that was awesome. Thank you so much, and would definitely recommend!!

Getting a haircut is a bit of an intimidating thought right now with COVID-19 still raging in Indiana. As a general rule, I go to a handful of Great Clips locations, though I've always done so spontaneously.

Lately, the pandemic has influenced how most businesses operate and with Great Clips that tends to mean you're way better off using their app and signing in online.

Fortunately, the app is an easy download and signing in is super easy once you've logged your information.

While I live close to a different location, this has always been one of my preferred spots because it allows me to make stops at Uncle Bill's, Tuesday Morning, and George's Neighborhood Grill all in one easy stop. If I'm craving Starbucks, I can even wheel across the parking lot and go there.

This location is located in a small strip center facing Binford. There's a couple accessible parking spots at the end of the building with an adjacent curb cut. There is not a curb cut at the other end of the building or directly in front of Great Clips. So, park closest to Jimmy John's. I've had a couple issues with these Jimmy John's delivery folks parking on the blue striped spots (illegal), but lately they've been pretty good about it.

There's a single glass door to enter. There's a decent sized reception area that is currently socially distanced in terms of chairs. If they have multiple customers, they will recommend you wait outside. That said, you can also set up the app to let you know when it's close to your time. Again, super convenient.

As a wheelchair user, I appreciate that Great Clips will always ask me if I want to stay in the chair or transfer. Since my most recent amputation, I typically stay in my chair now. They can move their chairs over rather easily and I've never heard them complain about it. I'd imagine it might be more difficult if you're getting your hair washed - something I've never done at Great Clips.

While I've occasionally gone to locations that are a bit sketchy, I've consistently been pleased at this location. While I've often thought of establishing myself with a certain stylist, the truth is I've never done so. There's no question some are more friendly than others, but overall I'm looking for a cheap, no frills cut and that's what I get.

Yes, they always ask you if you want products. That said, they never push you to get them. They also occasionally have specials and you can occasionally get coupons in the mail if they have your address.

At this time, all stylists are wearing masks and they are using their chairs in a way that keeps everyone distanced. Obviously, the stylist gets close to you. They will gently lift the side of your mask to trim your sides.

One time, they actually took a temperature but this is not something I've experienced consistently.

While Indy has quite a few Great Clips locations, this is easily one of my favorite spots in the city as I've had consistently good service, friendly stylists, and a willingness to work with the wheelchair. When they notice my shunt scar, the more intuitive ones also offer a bit of a head/neck massage which is incredibly soothing for someone with severe headaches pretty much all the time.

While I'm being ultra careful during the pandemic, I feel safe here and definitely still get a quality haircut at a great price.

We usually take our son to Sportsclips. They had a really long wait and Greatclips didn't have a wait. That should have told us something. Our stylist did a really poor job. She didn't wet my sons hair before cutting. It was uneven and one of the worst cuts he has had. Hair grows back and it's not a huge deal, but she was also not friendly and seemed rushed, even though nobody else was in the store or on the waitlist. Maybe we just got a stylist on a bad day or not one of their better stylists, but disappointed.
