Great Clips in Alexandria, VA

I'm an Air Force veteran who dropped by this Manchester Lakes Great Clips location to get a Veterans Day coupon for a free haircut, which is an annual corporate promotion to honor active-duty and retired vets. Upon entering the shop, I noticed quite a few people in line and noticed a 38-minute timeline for someone who would want to wait for a haircut. I asked a woman at the counter if I could get a Veterans Day coupon and was immediately told that they had run out. Corporate reimburses all coupons back to their shops, so there is no loss of income during the promotion, but the woman I spoke to was highly dismissive of my inquiry. I asked if she was the manager, and she said she was not, and she walked over to tell the manager who was giving someone a haircut. He approached me in a highly agitated state with a very dismissive tone telling me that they were out of coupons. He then, magically, reached into a drawer and handed me a Veterans Day coupon for a free haircut. Two Great Clips staff members lied to me about not having coupons, and then the manager pulls one out of a drawer. They clearly were very upset with Great Clips Veterans Day free haircut promotion. I don't recommend anyone to go to this Great Clips location due to poor management practices.

I went in just to get my bangs trimmed. I came out looking like a two year trimmed my bangs. They were so short I couldn't do a thing with them. Do not go to this hair salon. This was my first and last visit to this salon.

I have been coming here for a few years. Today I came in and had a new lady cutting my hair. Asked for a wet cut instead of her cutting my hair dry I have curly hair that's frizzy it's normally instinct for hair dressers to wet my hair as they go, and I like the effect it gives when wet and cut you can really see my dead ends better. Overall my experience with wet hair is much better than when I get it cut dry the overall cut is low quality when dry I know my hair and what I like! I was told by her it was an extra 10$ for her to wet my head to cut my hair she proceeded to also say she likes and thinks she can cut my hair better dry. I told her it was fine and moved on I let her cut it dry because I can't stand confrontation. I thought maybe she got it confused with a wash I didn't want a wash I just wanted my hair wet and reiterated that to her again so there wasn't any confusion. She still insisted it was 10$. Anyways I've been getting my hair cut at great clips since I was a child it's free for them to spray your hair lol with water. She was also extremely rough on my hair literally ripping it. I left and ended up getting super sad that I felt like I had no idea what just happened my hair is special to me and to not be taken care of and understood is upsetting especially when you've been struggling with hair loss and other things you want to feel taken care of and like they are going to do no harm. Maybe it was miscommunication so I called and talked to the manager he said there's no such thing as a charge for them to cut my hair wet and the shampoo would've only been 5$ extra (which I didn't want shampoo) he was very concerned and confused as to why she would tell me no to having my long curly hair cut wet. He was very kind, but the lady who has cut my hair didn't realize me speaking up to ask to have it cut wet was genuinely hard for me enough and then it turn into me feeling uncomfortable and confused with the lie about a 10$ charge for nothing was really upsetting.

I had an OUTSTANDING experience with Hieu Hoang. I always get a pixie cut and the stylists (not here!), in an effort to get me out the door quickly, just sheer it with clippers. Hieu parceled out my hair into quarters and spent time on it. It was so great. He is incredibly friendly and I will definitely come back to see him in the future. Thank you so much for your diligence. I feel so much better! Check in online is easy and fast. Saves the stylists from having to interrupt the session with their clients. All three employees working at the time (3:00pm on a Monday in August) were friendly and welcoming. I am definitely coming back to this location in the future and will recommend to my friends!

Came here on a Tuesday afternoon to donate my hair. I didn't have to wait so they were able to cut my hair within 30 minutes. Had a great conversation with the hairstylist while she cut my hair.
