George the Salon in Chicago, IL

THIS PLACE IS AMAZING!! I had just moved to Chicago from San Francisco and desperately needed a hair cut and color. I am very wary of new salons and have wavy hair so it is easy to run into someone that does not know what to do with that resulting in a bad cut. I am very loyal to my stylists and have been seeing the same guy for years but obviously needed a new stylist upon relocating. After a lot of online searching I decided to go get a consult at George the Salon. The receptionist was absolutely wonderful, she listened to my wants and connected me with a stylist she felt would be my best match - Maud a seasoned stylist experienced in Balayage (my preferred color process). I went to the consult and Maud was PERFECT she came up with a game plan that took everything I desired and added things that made the whole idea better. I returned for the cut and color and Maud was lovely and attentive and so focused on my hair and the outcome - I could tell she is dedicated and loves what she does which alleviated any anxiety about my final outcome. The staff was lovely, I was offered a wonderful selection of beverages and had some delicious coffee, my shampoo process and gloss were great and the salon itself is beautiful, clean, and inviting. The final product was INCREDIBLE, I cannot stop looking at my hair in the mirror because I love it so much. It is above and beyond what I had hoped for and I am so in love with it. I cannot recommend this salon enough - and Maud's skill is unparalleled. This salon will transform your hair into your dream look and they will work with you and listen to what you want the whole way. I would give 10 stars if I could!

Such a fantastic establishment. I've been coming here for the last five years and cannot say enough good things. The overall vibe is clean and professional. I've been seeing Mohamed for my haircuts and I love him! He's super chatty in the best ways possible and always makes my hair feel so alive. I have hair that's on the thinner side and he always knows how to layer my hair in a way that makes it look fuller. Courtney is my hair colorist from heaven. I have very dark hair, so dark that it looks basically black. I will never ever trust anyone but Courtney with my hair being colored. She appreciates and understands that I am a low maintenance with my hair and that I only get my hair colored once a year. The coloring in my hair always looks so seamless that even when my hair is growing out, there's never a stark difference between my colored hair/black hair. She somehow manages to make sure my hair is still flawless throughout its growth. She's worth every penny.

I haven't touched my hair color in years! I was nervous like I think most women are that have had bad color/cuts. Megan did my color and Dae cut my hair. I absolutely love it. I can't wait to go back. I wasn't disappointed nor did I have too much cut off. Great experience.

After researching multiple salons I ended up trying out for a haircut. The stylist barely spoke to me before I went to the wash bowl where a very inexperienced asst attempted to wash my hair. Then got to the chair waiting for the stylist overheard her conv w the prior client who did not like her hair. It seems to me that this stylist took that feedback not so well & projected it on me. She never really attempted conversation & I kept trying. Nope. I even mentioned how it's been a year since I got highlights. Nope nothing no engagement at all. She maybe spoke to me a total of 5 minutes the Whole appointment. I'm scent sensitive & nicely asked what she was about to put in my hair, grabbed a towel huffed and wiped the product off her hands. I bent over niceness & said oh let me smell it, might be ok! Overly explained my allergies etc. she allowed me to smell & I enthusiastically said oh yeah that's ok. Of course I shut my mouth & just nodded when she put heat styler in. That fragrance was not ok but I was afraid to say anything. The haircut was fine, she kept cutting & took way more than agreed upon. And when I got home she didn't trim the shorter pieces around my hairline that were like 5-6". To end the appt she barely walked me to the front & said you should get your hair trimmed in 6 weeks. No thank you no nice to meet you nothing. As someone who worked in the industry a long time ago in marketing, I know this is not what the industry would like to hear. Or the salon owner. It's a service & a potential new client that expressed interest in spending more $$ at your salon. After this experience I wouldn't dare go back to only be treated like this. Even if the prior client didn't like their outcome don't treat your next client with such disdain.

I can not recommend Maud enough! I was seeing another high profile chicago hairstylist before her and was incredibly unhappy.. always left with mediocre results and incredibly impersonal experience, and difficult appointment availability. I was recommended to go to Maud and Maud has transformed my hair!! As a blonde it's hard to find someone who just nails it and she sure does. I see her for balayage , cut, and style. She is so good at color and I feel like I can go longer between appointments with a beautiful grow out, which is awesome maintenance for being a blonde. She can get me in to see her when needed and is incredibly professional. She also cuts my hair so well giving me layers with body that I can easily style myself. She does a phenomenal job with color and balayage, but she also has taught me so much about my hair. She genuinely cares about her clients and has helped me have the healthiest hair I've ever had in my life in just a few months. I love the conditioning treatments she does when she colors my hair. I haven't found these at any other salon and it's helped my hair and color so much. She's also fun to talk to and makes you feel comfortable. I never have to be nervous about my hair. She took my hair from brassy outgrown orange brown blonde to beautiful, bright, blonde and healthy in months. I can not recommend maud enough especially for balayage and cut!! In my opinion, She is the best at balayage in the salon by far and an expert at blonde hair. The salon itself is also very chic and cozy. Highly recommend Maud and George the Salon.
