Genesis Salon + Spa in Mount Vernon, WA

Ashley gave me a malibu treatment/color correction, and she did a fantastic job. My hair went from a terrible coloring job at another salon to a dark brown with caramel highlights thanks to her! She is incredibly kind and skilled in hair maintenance. She is very honest about pricing and results, and she clearly cares about her clients. I can tell that Ashley only wants what is best for the client. I advise making a reservation with her!

I've really been struggling with whether or not to write a review; every time I do my hair in the morning, though, I have the desire to put my blow dryer down and write it. I came in as a new client, as my previous stylist of about 10 years moved to Seattle. I asked for a trim, just to clean up the existing style. She asked how much to cut, and we decided on 1/2". She didn't ask much about my hair and it's quirks (straight and fine, with waves and cowlicks in the underneath layer), so I told her. I also told her what works best when cutting my hair -- cutting it layer by layer. She looked at me like I was nuts. I should have left at that point, but unfortunately did not. As I sat there, she was hacking away endlessly as hair was falling to the floor around me. When she finished up, I was afraid to look, but as suspected, I now have a VERY short haircut that is butchered and nearly impossible to style. She cut off at least 3". I'm sure it will take nearly a full year to grow out to something I can work with. I was nearly in tears when I left. The salon is also rather dingy and the area by her station was definitely not appropriately clean. AVOID this salon.

I have been a loyal customer with my stylist Raschell for 4 years and I will never return to this salon ever again. I was there, as usual, for an all over blonde retouch and she applied the lightener and put me under a hot dryer. I have lost a GOOD amount of my hair and have chemical cuts on my part which stick straight up and are about 1/4 inch long. There is no way to fix the damage she caused my hair. After the appointment I was pulling chunks out of my hair. I have spent so many years and so much money on maintaining my blonde hair and in one visit it is all ruined. It will take me years to repair the damage she has done to my hair and all I got was a refund for the service. I literally cry looking in the mirror at my hair and how I have lost 50% of the thickness that my hair use to be and my hair was not thick to begin with.

So since nobody wants to answer my message I wanna come on here and say I went to genesis salon yesterday to get my hair done with Rachelle she foiled me up and ended up burning my hair after she took the foil out everything hurt shampooing brushing styling was ridiculously painful I felt a burning sensation and didn't know what was wrong with my scalp she styled me and didn't mention my scalp was extremely red and swollen with blood and she charged me!! Until I got home amd asked my boyfriend to take pictures of my head because it would stop throbbing! And I was shocked to see how read and bloody my scalp was ! I tried messaging Tiffany the owner and got no response she's just been ignoring my messages this is not okay! And I demand my money back
