Gallop Hair Salon in Louisville, KY

Tara has been doing my hair for over 15 years! She's done everything from my prom hair to my wedding day hair years later! She taken me from brunette to blonde and back again! It's easy to book appointments online and she always has various time available.

I cannot recommend this business after my experience. In January, I reached out and asked the stylist I chose for a cut and color, and I stated that I would like my hair a black brown or black color.  She confirmed and said it wouldn't be a problem. When I arrived for my appointment and showed her pictures of the color, she said she wouldn't be willing to take me dark and instead suggested that I color my hair burgundy. I didn't want burgundy at all. I told her that and she still said she wouldn't take me dark. This was extremely off putting to me because she already told me over text that what I wanted "wouldn't be a problem" and it's not her decision anyway? I've had jet black hair so many times throughout my life. I have always loved it and looked and felt amazing. I told her that and she wouldn't listen to me. She said that because I have warm skin like her, red hair will look good me because it looks good on her. (Maybe I don't want to look like you?) She also mentioned that she wanted to dye my hair red to live vicariously through me because she used to look beautiful like me. So do you have your own interests in mind or you don't color dark hair? If she didn't advise doing black, she easily could have suggested a variant of brown to freshen up my natural medium brown hair.

Nonetheless, I agreed to burgundy, because if I didn't like it, I at least had time to color it again before my wedding in June. As I expected, I haven't liked the red color at all. If I could go back, I would absolutely stand my ground and only accept black or black brown. Hair is hair though and I accepted the burgundy, so I accept my responsibility in the matter. Whatever.

So the problem persists as I recently texted the stylist and asked for a cut and color. I mentioned that I haven't been feeling the red color we did in January, and that moving forward I only want black or dark brown hair. She never responded. I'm honestly not surprised by that whatsoever, and I'm assuming it's because I want dark hair (you know, what I asked for from the get-go). It's actually hilarious that someone would allow their unsolicited opinions to get in the way of making money, gaining a new client, and attracting further business by word of mouth praise.

Speaking of unsolicited opinions, when I mentioned that my fiancé (and I) wanted my fringe bangs to be grown out for our wedding- she scoffed and rudely said "that better be the last time a man tells you anything about your hair". Also when discussing my deceased parents, she said "no wonder you have so much gray hair!" I can roll with sassy, borderline insulting conversation when I'm actually getting the service I asked for, but I didn't, so the lack of sensitivity isn't charming- it's actually repulsive and cringy. I was willing to give this person and salon another try if they would just color my hair how I wanted, but I haven't heard back to make an appointment and I have since had a longtime friend / stylist color my hair black with no issues at all. It looks great and I feel amazing. Again, I cannot recommend Gallop Salon based off my experience with this stylist.

Adrian listened to what I was really wanting with color and cut and I walked out a very happy customer !

I absolutely LOVE LOVE LOVE this salon and my stylist Adrian! She does a wonderful job and I get sooo many compliments on my hair color and cut! Adrian is so sweet, accommodating, and professional. I would highly recommend this salon and Adrian to anybody and everybofy!!!
